Eagle Farm preview and tips: Best bets for Saturday, December 16

We head to Eagle Farm on Saturday, where there's three black-type races - but with fields of even quality, it's made value hard to find so I am staying with recent form.

There is rain predicted before the weekend but that will only help Eagle Farm and with the rail out two metres all will get their chance.

An even lot with most having been around the block a fair few times. KAT CHINNA (1) goes well fresh, draws a gate and is helped by Marnu Potgieter's 3kg claim. He won a similar race over this trip when last resuming and can give a sight again. LIQUOR (5) has been maintaining form and won in dominant fashion here two starts back. Bailey Wheeler takes the ride for Tony Gollan and will be keen to make an impression. Blinkers go on RUSHEEN (3) which wasn't beaten far by Hardware Lane in a Class 6 at Ipswich when resuming. He has a good record at this trip and is well placed with Jake Molloy's 3kg claim. AMITY GAL (4) goes well fresh and while she hasn't won for 57 weeks is rarely far away. David Vandyke will have her prepared for a strong first-up effort and with Cejay Graham will be prominent for a long way.

VERDICT: Some each-way value with KAT CHINNA (1).

All interest in ANEMACORE (3) which has looked a serious talent winning his past two at the Sunshine Coast. This big track suits, a tongue-tie goes on and while he meets some good quality mares, Michael Rodd will keep him out of trouble to round them up late. PRINCESS RHAENYS (10) is fitter for two outings and was hitting the line at Doomben in a Benchmark 85 last start. This extra distance suits, Ryan Maloney stays on and she was placing in Group races against the best fillies last preparation. The stablemate MADAME ODETTE (12) is another good mare which won the Toowoomba Guineas and placed at Listed level as a three-year-old. She has been improved by two outings and will be given every chance by Ben Thompson. FLEUR DU MONDE (9) got a win on the board last start beating subsequent winner Moktaffy and while this is harder she has shown a liking for Queensland. Jim Orman has stuck with her and can overcome the wide gate.

VERDICT: Going with ANEMACORE (3).

Several of these met in similar class a fortnight ago and I am expecting that form to be franked. DRIVE A DEEL (2) is fitter for three outings and her last win came in this Class over this trip where she led all the way. She came from a wide gate to beat all but the in-form The Face last start over 1350m and from a better draw over a longer trip, Martin Harley will adopt more positive tactics. STARZAM (5) got further back than normal but ran on to finish on DRIVE A DEEL (2)'s heels last start. He has been racing well since resuming and his last win came over 1650m when ridden by Cejay Graham. An honest performer he will be thereabouts again. AUSSIE NUGGET (1) is risky at the gates but was hitting the line strongly when resuming and just missed the placegetters at Doomben. This trip on a bigger track suits and if Ryan Maloney has him in touch he can account for these. CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE (7) was also resuming and finished on terms with AUSSIE NUGGET (1). He is another that will be improved and appreciate the extra distance.

VERDICT: A positive ride can see DRIVE A DEEL (2) home.
Hard to argue with mare that has won four straight and Kelly Schweida takes on Saturday grade with MAID TO FIT (5). She has drawn poorly but Jim Orman stays on and will know what to do. MISS COOTA (10) has fallen off the radar after some disappointing performances and never gave a yelp in the Mode Plate. The jury is out but her trial was much better than her race performance and she could bounce back without surprising. FUMIKO (9) is another that falls into the 'moody mare' category but is now with Tony Gollan and he knows how to turn them around. She just missed when resuming at the Sunshine Coast, will appreciate the extra distance and Ryan Maloney has an excellent strike rate. EN POINTE (8) ran into an in-form Hardware Lane when resuming at Ipswich but beat the rest. She will be improved and gets the gun run with Michael Rodd.

VERDICT: MAID TO FIT (5) knows how to win.

Annabel Neasham has brought PERFECT MISSION (8) back in good order following a long break. She beat a similar field last start, steps up to 1200m and if she runs to her form when fourth to Coolangatta in the Magic Millions as a two-year-old will have no trouble with these. SUNFALL (7) is resuming after running Master Jamie close in a feature at Rockhampton. He trialled well and few prepare them better for a first-up tilt than Barry Lockwood. SAFEWORK (5) doesn't win out of turn but got within half a length of PERFECT MISSION (8) last start and nets her 1.5kg better. A small field helps and he will get his chance. SEA RAIDER (1) got a mile back from a wide gate when resuming but was beaten just over a length at the end by PERFECT MISSION (8) last start. He has won three times at this track, Cejay Graham replaces Dan McGillivray and from gate two a more positive ride is expected.

VERDICT: PERFECT MISSION (8) to keep the form going.

The one with most upside is SHA OF GOMER (7) which has been consistent this preparation and was beaten only a length by a handy pair in higher class last start. Winkers go on, he won over this trip two starts back and with Jim Orman from gate two will get all the favours. THE DROVER (4) can mix his form but won in this class two starts back. Five wins and 13 seconds in 35 starts says where he is at but a good gate and Cejay Graham's 1.5kg claim help. HAMLET VON SNITZEL (8) has got more consistency in his game this preparation but still finds it hard to win. He battled on to place behind THE DROVER (4) at Doomben and Michael Rodd could find the key. FLASHING STEEL (2) is also entered in Sydney but won four in a row before missing a place in the Grafton Guineas last preparation. He will strip fitter second-up, has benefited from a recent trial and has the form to bother this class.

VERDICT: SHA OF GOMER (7) has learnt how to win.
Hard to ignore NSW form and Bjorn Baker has brought IMEZAAKI (6) north after a strong win over 2000m at Newcastle. An improving type by Ocean Park, the further they go the better he likes it and with Ben Thompson he will be hard to hold out. Jim Orman has taken the mount on the Chris Waller-trained KIRIKAN (4) which got the maiden out of the way at Canterbury last start. A five-time winner of the race, the trainer knows what it takes and the Tivaci gelding has the speed to make his own luck. The stablemate SHY GUY (3) has been racing consistently this preparation and was only run down late in the Eagle Way at Doomben. Mark Du Plessis replaces Jim Orman and he could control the tempo to suit. FELIX THE SCAT (1) has only won one race but now with Tony Gollan has been working towards this and finished on terms with SHY GUY (3) last start. This is his Grand Final and he will get all the favours with Ryan Maloney.

VERDICT: IMEZAAKI (6) the one with most improvement.

A moderate beginning cost ABOUNDING (9) last outing where she gave too much start and couldn't run down West Of Dalby. This bigger track is in her favour and fitter for two outings, Martin Harley can round them up. Several of these met a fortnight ago and SPIRIT OF MAC (7) beat all but the winner Beautantes. A good gate helps, he has improved at each outing and Andrew Mallyon will give him the gun run. SHOW ME MERCY (6) has looked a likely type winning three of four and won a recent trial. Stuart Kendrick has the two runners but with Michael Rodd this may be the most likely. DEEP RESPECT (4) gave a start and may have needed the run when resuming in the same race as SPIRIT OF MAC (7). He will strip fitter here, blinkers replace visors and a more positive ride by Jim Orman can have him in the frame.

VERDICT: Many chances but going with ABOUNDING (9).

David McColm has freshened FAR TOO EASY (4) since his gallant third in The Kosciuszko and he showed he was ready to go at a recent trial. He has an excellent first-up record and with Jim Orman will be hard to hold out. THE BIG GOODBYE (6) came from a wide gate to beat FAR TOO EASY (4) in the Ramornie and meets him on similar terms. He disappointed in the George Moore but that was an anomaly and with winkers off he can return to his usual honest self. IRISH SONGS (5) is yet to fire since a short break but has last win was over this trip here in similar company. Jake Bayliss gets back on and that could make a difference. SCALLOPINI (1) is now a nine-year-old and didn't give a yelp when resuming but this is his trip and he has won three times here. A 13-time winner, he has a far better record than any of these and if the fire still burns can test them late.

VERDICT: FAR TOO EASY (4) is far too classy.

The longer trip will help DUNE FORTY FIVE (2) which has returned in good order and beat KNIGHT'S CHOICE (3) home at the Sunshine Coast two starts back. He meets that horse on similar terms and will get the gun run with Boris Thornton. KNIGHT'S CHOICE (3) returned to his best last stat over 2000m and the drop back to 1810m won't worry him. He rises 2.5kg but has upside, Jaden Loyd stays on and will have him hitting the line. ROUSSEAU (5) was too good for a Benchmark 85 field last start and has won up to 2000m. He drops 3kg and with Jim Orman staying on can be in the finish. Chris Munce has stepped JETTY (6) up in trip after two solid efforts over 1600m. He ran DUNE FORTY FIVE (2) close in the Mooloolaba Cup, meets him 1.5kg better and will get a positive ride from Robbie Dolan.

VERDICT: DUNE FORTY FIVE (2) to get it done.
