Top weight-for-age performer Alligator Blood confirmed his place among Australia's elite when taking out the $1m Group 1 Might And Power Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The win was Alligator Blood's 15th from 33 starts and took his earnings to more than $7.4m.

Alligator Blood is a seven-year-old gelding by All Too Hard, he is trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and was ridden by Tim Clark.

This is what the riders thought of their mount's performance in the Might And Power Stakes.

1st - ALLIGATOR BLOOD (Tim Clark) It's unreal. What he has done for me and my family over the last twelve or 18 months, he's been a wonderful horse and obviously disappointed I wasn't able to ride him up until now but I'm grateful to Gai and Adrian to give me the opportunity to get back on him. All the staff here and back home, they've prepped him up so well and these horses, they don't come along very often and a seven-time Group 1 winner - five at weight-for-age, he's a real star and showed that he could run a strong 2000 (metres) today.

2nd - VOW AND DECLARE (Billy Egan) He's made good improvement from his first-up run and he was good through the line today.

3rd - DUAIS (Blake Shinn) Very game run. We had to go back from the draw. She was gallant in defeat and ran very well.

4th - NONCONFORMIST (Harry Coffey) Tough contest that. He likes a tack up scenario where he can let rip. Chasing him from a long way out brought him undone, but he was still good through the line and one target for next week.

5th - ALENQUER (Mark Zahra) He had a nice run and got to the line OK.

6th - DENY KNOWLEDGE (Wiremu Pinn) She just took me for a ride. I went way too fast on her. She didn't feel the best and got on one rein and wanted to lay out. Against genuine weight-for-age horses, I think she went pretty good.

7th - HEZASHOCKA (Damian Lane) He's probably not good enough to chase that speed, albeit not running his best races here at Caulfield. I think once we get him away from here, he'll improve.

8th - LINDERMANN (Joao Moreira) He travelled a bit strong and couldn't finish the race off. It was a disappointing performance.

9th - FORGOT YOU (John Allen) He was OK. We got hampered once or twice which probably didn't help.

10th - JUST FINE (Jordan Childs) He was quite plain today. He travelled well but I just didn't have a horse when I asked him to quicken and finish it off.
