ElIssa disqualified for two years
BRISBANE, April 1 AAP - Jockey Bobby El-Issa has been disqualified for two years for his handling of a horse in a race at Eagle Farm in February.
Racing Queensland stewards found El-Issa guilty of not allowing Bold Glance every chance to win the $100,000 Falvelon Stakes (1200m) on February 26.
Stewards said he did not ride the horse out with his usual vigour in the final 200 metres.
Bold Glance led at that point but was overhauled by the heavily-backed Essington.
El-Issa, 34, has a long history of run-ins with officialdom in NSW and Queensland for various offences including a nine-month ban in 2006 for testing positive to cocaine.
Following his second placing at Eagle Farm, Bold Glance won the $100,000 Gold Coast Stakes on March 19 when ridden by Scott Seamer who will be aboard in Saturday's Group One George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill.
The ban comes just a day after El-Issa won the Weetwood at Toowoomba on Lucky Leak.
