BRISBANE, July 3 AAP - A winner and a careless riding suspension summed up an eventful return to city racing for Bobby El-Issa at Doomben on Wednesday.

El-Issa had four rides at Doomben and had to wait until the last race of the day to notch a victory aboard Princess Lyca in the Channel Seven Handicap (1200m).

But he found himself on the wrong side of stewards who outed him for seven meetings for careless riding in the opening race.

His suspension will start after Saturday's Eagle Farm meeting and expire on July 18.

"It's the highs and lows of racing," El-Issa said.

"I was a bit of a victim of circumstances on a couple of my earlier rides but winning the last was a better way to finish the day.

"It was a good feeling to be back riding in the city again."

El-Issa was disqualified for 18 months over his ride aboard Bold Glance at Eagle Farm in February 2011.

He regained his licence to ride on country tracks in November last year before the Queensland All Codes Racing Industry Board granted him permission to ride in the city from July 1.
