3 Bews Chased well to just miss last start at Caulfield when resuming and has won two of seven on a softer track. Perfectly placed.
4 Villa Seventynine Ran three lengths back from the winner last start at Terang when resuming and awkwardly drawn. Ran seventh at Racing.com Park when last second-up. Place hope.
5 Thaler Won once this prep at Moonee Valley two runs back and 3kg claim should help. Won't be far away in the run. Hard to get enthused.
7 La Caresse Resumes after spell of 36 weeks and having first start for a new trainer. Proven first-up winning two from four when fresh but still this looks too strong.
8 Social Conscience Amongst the placegetters first two attempts this prep and amongst the placegetters last start running second at Yarra Valley. Not the worst.
10 Gunna Gunna Resumes after a 29 week spell and large claim helps. Faces a rise in trip. Hard to have.
11 Magnum Bullet Finished four lengths back last start at Kyneton on a soft track when first up but has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw. Ran seventh at Sandown Hillside when last second-up. Not in this.
12 White Bear Just missed when heavily backed last start at Caulfield on a soft track. Winner at Benalla and placed once this campaign. Won two of four as a favourite. Right in this.
13 Awapuni Princess Resumes after spell of 31 weeks and will appreciate the cut in the ground. Should settle towards the rear. Not out of it.
15 Pure Paradise Coming off a win at Racing.com Park on a soft track and two wins from six attempts this campaign. Has not won at Caulfield previously but has solid claims.
16 Tiffany Valentine Has two wins from seven attempts this campaign and goes well on a softer track. Expected to settle off the speed. Genuine contender.
17 Soobooma Came on to finish midfield last start at Racing.com Park and wide barrier is a concern. An untried jockey and trainer combination. Not here.
