Chris Symons injured and in doubt for Saturday

MELBOURNE, March 5 AAP - Jockey Chris Symons is in serious doubt for the Super Saturday meeting at Flemington after suffering a suspected broken pelvis in a fall at Ballarat.

Symons, who had scheduled rides in two of the three Group One races on Saturday, was injured when his mount Tennyson slipped and fell on the home turn in the last race on Thursday.

Symons was taken to the Ballarat Base Hospital with suspected concussion as well as a broken pelvis.

Fellow jockey Steven Arnold escaped injury on In Concert who also slipped trying to avoid the fallen horse.

Symons' four rides on Saturday included Largo Lad in the Group one Newmarket Handicap and Lucky Thunder in the Group One Australian Guineas.
