Robert Sangster Stakes Race & Venue
The 2025 Robert Sangster Stakes (sometimes called the TAB Classic) - a 1200m WFA Group 1 race for Fillies and Mares aged 3YO & Upwards - will likely be held at Morphettville Racecourse as part of the Adelaide Autumn Carnival on Saturday 26th of April.Punters has all the Robert Sangster Stakes details, including; tips, betting, odds, form guide, field, and race time details.
The Robert Sangster Stakes is once again the first Group 1 of the Adelaide Autumn as the locals are often joined by talented horses from Melbourne, Sydney and even further afield.

Robert Sangster Stakes History
The Robert Sangster was first run in 1983 as the Swettenham Stud Stakes, with Ranee's Palace proving too good for her rivals.The race was renamed as the Robert Sangster Stakes in 2005 in recognition of racing identity Robert Sangster, the principal of Swettenham Stud and a prolific owner and breeder of racehorses. In recent years the race name has been changed to reflect key sponsors, for example the 2015 race was called the William Hill Classic.
At different times the Robert Sangster has been a Listed Race, a Group Three, a Group Two and finally in 2005 it achieved Group 1 status, which it has retained ever since.
Trainer Lee Freedman won the race three years running (2005-07), while Mick Price has also managed three victories in the race (1998, 2004, 2009)
Notable winners: Miracles of Life, Platelet, Black Caviar, Alinghi, Our Egyptian Raine and more....
