The Chipping Norton Stakes, held the same weekend as Super Saturday, has a history of attracting the best miler’s to Sydney and this year promises to continue the tradition.

Among the favourites to earn the Doncaster Handicap ballot exemption provided to the winner, with the 2013 Chipping Norton Stakes field seen in the odds table below, include:

Last year’s Chipping Norton was won by Shoot Out ($5.00), with 2011 champion Danleigh ($7.50) second and Trusting ($7.00) third. Favourite Pinker Pinker ($2.40) finished sixth.

Runners that fair well in the Chipping Norton are likely to contest the Ranvet Stakes (2000m) on March 23 and the Doncaster Handicap (1600m) on April 20. Grand Armee (2005) and Theseo (2010) recently completed the Chipping Norton-Ranvet double.
