Two things, one, your bad luck and two, The Fireman. This bloke's name was Eddie Birchley from QLD and did send some bookies broke in Sydney, but he had a bet of $110,000 to $5,000 ON on a horse one day called Danish Dancer (this was either the horse he backed, or the actual winner of the race). Anyway his horse ran second, and he was never heard of again.
Re bad luck, and this is not to get people to follow my tips, but yesterday I had to pick from 4 selections in the last race in Pinjarra. Normally when I have this many selections I use a numerical rating to sort them out and I put my top pick in as my selection, and then box the four horses in a quinella for $3, and a trifecta for half a unit which costs me $30.
Because I thought that Race 8 was the last race on the program, I did not look at Race 9. My picks in the race, in order, were (and I promise I'm not kidding) No 12 Leica Jet (which won and was my tip for PP) and numbers 16, 2 and 5. The result of the race was 12, 2, 16 and 5. The quinella paid $192 in NSW, the trifecta $16488 ($64,762 on STAB) and the First Four was not won (I don't take First Fours, but you can imagine what it would have paid).
I did not have one dollar on the race except for $2700 units in the tipping contest. I doubt that I'll ever see a result like that again.
Regards
Don Beggs

Yeah thanks mate. Nothing like tipping a 6-4 favourite. I'll take any price at the moment the way I'm going. Most fav's I've been tipping lately get beat.
The betting agency that wouldnt take your bet; did you mean betezy?
no mate back in the 70S and 80S their was a punter called the firemm who mim bet 100k sent a lot of bookies broke and was banned from racecourses ! can you believe that?
Hey mate. Look its not against the rules of racing for trainers to bet. There is nothing wrong with that. Not sure if you actually read my post but yes most jockeys do bet. Dont worry, I own plenty of shares, and have even been to a pubtab after the races with one of my jockeys to watch him bet.
However the rules are the rules mate. Jockeys arent allowed to bet and they shouldnt be either.
