my advice to you -

1/ Back doubles only
2/ Create a stable of jockeys that you like backing
3/ Back your jockeys when you like their book of rides
4/ Always look for a false favourtite or a jcokey way uner the odds

mate, give me an idea of how much you are outlaying and your bets for the last few days or week and I may be able to lead you in the right direction. Simply though, like anything else, identify the false favourites

Good stuff. Salient point you make with your comments on doubles etc...can't track those things on this site, and a studious punter can make his/her dough right there.
Fortunately for me I was only home late enough to back one loser today (Inarticulate) haha
Hopefully you haven't put the mock on me!
Happy new year and here's to 40 more good years!

Nice work with Alms. I saw it was well supported by the public tipsters, so when I was at the pub and saw the big odds I whacked $100 ew on it. Ezirico looked silly odds too and provided some drinking silver. Good work mate, happy days!

Thanks for your constructive comments globaltipers. I probably was kidding, I like to have fun. If you are referring to my current "status" you are incorrect about the boasting though, I was just writing and having fun, it is merely a statement based mainly on fact. Many people use their "status" as a way to promote their tips and hopefully attract buyers or conversation. I don't see the point in getting wound up and boasting about a computer game, which is how I treat this site - a bit of fun. If I want to boast I've got much bigger and better things to boast about, as I'm sure many others do.
If someone backs every odds on runner at level stakes they will lose, but I've never met anyone that does that. I don't know anyone that bets on every race, let alone every fave or every odds on chance - that's just compulsive gambling without a game plan. I think people that bet that way are the reason we have gamblers annonymous. I also think that anyone with even the slightest chance of going broke from punting shouldn't be betting in the first place.
I do know one thing though - if someone backs every odds on chance that is the right price they will be in this game longer than someone backing $10 chances to beat them. And if they can pick a winner, have a clever staking plan, and a big bank they are nigh on unbeatable.

Best of luck today and for the new year mate

Hi, I actually back the top 2 selections for most races if the odds allow it and splurge on the first 4. As for parlays although I have had winning runs of 6 or 7 on the trot they are are far and few between with only the top selection. I am almost coming around to only backing my top selection since I have been on the site. I have the back records for the last 3 years of my top 2 selections and results would indicate that backing the one horse per race is a viable proposition. Until now I preferred backing 2 selections rather than an each way on one. You have 2 chances at winning as opposed to one of winning and recouping some money on the place; the old vexed question of straight out bets or each way.
