The yoyo continues... but it's expected for this time for the year. Typically during winters, we see more shorties in my picks getting rolled, but the incredible value that we get on some other runners compensate for a slightly lower strike rate.

The roll continues... 2 bets for 2 wins so far today. Bank close to last high. 19 tips for Saturday now up... Get on!

The strike rate correction is taking place, boosting the bottom line back into the black. Over the last 5 years, the winter months have been less profitable than remaining months, so it's refreshing to see a few days of such strong performance, thanks to a couple of double digit winners - especially considering that the bulk of my tips are well in the market. I don't pick favourites deliberately. It's just that most of my picks are favoured by the market too.

We took a bashing on Saturday, but this is only cyclical. Over a year, we will come out ahead. The current profit on Place figures is an indication, as my long term Win profits have ALWAYS outperformed my Place profits.

Couple of solid tips now up for Monday. Enjoy your holiday if you are in Australia.

Tough day yesterday, but the selections were sound. Couple of ill judged rides on the shorties was the difference between loss and profit.

3 picks in Sydney for 3 placings. All good runs, especially Music Review. Koichi and Gergis would be hard to beat in similar grade returning to a drier track.

3 Flemington picks were disappointing. Command Prince was primed to win this race. Indirect could turn out to be a cat. Lakonian was a very popular pick across the nation, yet G Boss rode it worse than an apprentice.

2 picks at Eagle Farm performed reasonably well. Scenic Scene was dominant in winning, while Amberino ran ok. She would have turned the race on its head on a drier track, as she had been freshened up for this race. She was probably too sharp for the slow going.

Old Worlde in Adelaide would have won with a better ride.

Universal Ruler was scratched, leaving 2 tips at Belmont. Star Encounter won at odds on. However, I was hoping that Reverend Lovejoy had run too, as the Star would have beaten the Reverend under this condition at a better price, probably at $3.00. Manahatn should have gone closer. Will wait for the steward's report.

A good 2nd at Northam today. It was a good decision to avoid the Doomben meeting today with 2 hotpots Kiss Me Katy and Hume both biting the dust at long odds on. Sometimes, not betting is the same as winning. Knowing when to bet is the key. The upcoming Saturday should be groovy with a few longshots expected to perform well.

Based on the run in the Doomben 10,000 last Saturday, Something Anything will sneak a win at good odds this preparation. 4 bets for 2 wins and 2 seconds yesterday. Following up with a single solid bet at Northam today.

6 tips today, 3 at Rosehill, 3 at Sandown. With the Rosehill tips assessed for Dead5 or better going, the track deteriorating to Heavy8 by the last didn't help our runners. Strike One was close to turning the day into profit with a good 2nd on an unsuitable track.
The day finished up with 1 second, 3 thirds (2 of those NTD) and 2 unplaced.
The shorties - Woppitt, Inkster, and Norteno were disappointing.
Encroacher was a good 3rd at $5.00 the place on Unitab at first run for B. Mayfield-Smith. Strike One closed well for 2nd in the last at Rosehill at $3.10 the place on Unitab. Test Edition was well specked in betting, looked a winning chance straightening up, but ran out of condition on the wet track to finish well back.

Good day last Saturday with 3 out of 8 tips saluting at good odds. Would have been great if one of the three seconds saluted too.

Review of Tips:
Good early move on Deltona in the straight secured the win.
Get Set not quite right this prep. Something wrong with this horse...
Kiss The Cash appreciated the rise in distance and closed well to win.
Chopin: great resuming run, beaten a lip.
Lyncean Academy was racing in good form. Could have won with the correct ride.
Ortensia stamped herself as the best filly racing in Australia at the moment. Beat Belong To Many who was no slouch and had been toughened up by Waterhouse.
El Cambio: unlucky to not have won at least one of last 2 races. But he gets back, and luck would always be a factor with him.
Instructor: never impressed me that much, but I figured with the easy run he was supposed to have, he should have outsprinted Driffield Gold easily. Needs everything to go his way to win. Will remain a slow horse for a while.

Happy with the result of first 3 tips on this site - 2 WON (Ortensia $4.20 and Deltona $8.40 Unitab) and 1 second (the spineless Instructor).
