Bretto, just saw you asked another question regarding getting there early etc. I can't give you specific details as I've never been to Aus Cup Day but I am willing to bet it'd be nearly the exact same setup as Turnbull Stakes Day. If you wanted a table (there are tables and chairs setup on the lawn near the winning post and usually a bar set up and a bookie or two) I'd say get there earlyish, at least in time for the first. The other option is just take a picnic blanket and sit on that, there's plenty of room on the lawn to sit down and it looks like it'll be mid 20s on Saturday and just a bit if cloud so should be a good day to sit out on the lovely Flemington lawn (the main bit with the bar etc is about 100 metres shy of the winning post.
Hey Bretto, I noticed you are attending the Aus Cup meeting. The crowd is usually similar to Turnbull Stakes Day so it can be anywhere between 20 and 40 thousand. I attend Turnbull Stakes Day each year and it's really a perfect size crowd, enough to create a bit of atmosphere etc. but also small enough so you can actually move as opposed to the Melb Cup carnival. As far as I know there is no birdcage as such for Aus Cup Day or 'Super Saturday' as they call it but they have a few food and wine enclosures etc but I've been told they aren't worth the money. I would say just go along mate, great thing about Aus Cup and Turnbull Stakes Day is because of the smaller crowds you can get into areas that are normally restricted to members or ticket holders for free and can also sit in the stands without buying a ticket. Hope this is of some help mate, I'm sure you'll have a great day, Cheers.
