Zardozi wins VRC Oaks for J-Mac and Cummings
James McDonald wins the VRC Oaks on Zardozi
Zardozi has won the $1 million VRC Oaks at Flemington.
The Godolphin filly, ridden by James McDonald, beat Aethelflaed while Basilinna, ridden by Damien Oliver, was third.
Trainer James Cummings told Network Ten Zardozi "packed a punch" at the end of 2500m for "for only a slender filly".
It's Group 1 glory for James Cummings and their star three-year-old filly ZARDOZI!

"J-Mac absolutely nailed it to win a Derby (on Riff Rocket) and Oaks in the same carnival is a credit to him ... she let go like a weapon," he said.
McDonald said winning the Oaks - his first - was "so special".
"My trainer's a freak," he said. "He set this horse for this race and it paid off, she's a star filly ... she's got an incredible turn of foot."
