Sunshine Coast preview and tips: Sunday, December 3

Sunday racing on the Sunshine Coast circuit Sunday racing on the Sunshine Coast circuit

Not a lot of depth in these races and I am going with those that have shown Saturday form.

The big track gives all horses their chance but with rain during the week the track will be soft and riders will be looking for the fast lanes near the crown in the straight.

This big track suits MOB BUSTER (1) which has been racing mainly in Saturday grade, getting well back and running on without threatening. He hasn't won for well over a year but is deep in his preparation and from a good gate won't get a better chance.

Four of ALLEZ ZOU (4)'s five wins have been here and he was never on the track last start in a Saturday Benchmark 78. This is his first time at 1400m but he is kindly weighted and from gate two with Robbie Dolan will get all the favours.

MOCAMBO (3) wasn't sighted when resuming from a long break at Eagle Farm but improves second-up and has won twice here previously. This trip suits and Justin Stanley has an outstanding record at the provincials.

SO DAPPER (2) has never done much first-up but there is not much depth in this and Jaden Lloyd to roll forward and control the race to suit.

VERDICT: MOB BUSTER (1) is due.

None of these excite but AROUND THE BUOY (3) put the writing on the wall at his second start for Chris Munce when narrowly beaten at Doomben on a heavy track. This trip suits and he can dictate terms from the outset.

BIG TICKET BOY (4) won here three starts back and hasn't been disgraced at subsequent outings. Georgina Cartwright gets back on and this longer trip may be what he needs.

TORQUE LEICA STAR (6) gets plenty of racing and was never on the track last start but won here two starts back over this trip. Ryan Wiggins stays on whilst he will get back will be running on at the business end.

CONTRITION (1) hasn't won for 69 weeks but is now fourth-up, has found a race without depth and her best efforts come at this trip.

VERDICT: AROUND THE BUOY (3) is due.

The one with least convictions is TARANAKI (4) which has been brought north by Chris Waller to win a race and despite being green, wasn't beaten far at Doomben on debut. His dam was a Group 1 winner and was successful up to 2100m so this trip holds no fears. This bigger track suits and from gate one with Jim Orman there will be no excuses.

GLEN MASSEY (5) won here five starts back but was subsequently disqualified after a positive swab. He is a big long-strider that was unsuited by Ipswich last start but is better suited here and with a positive ride from Karl Zechner will be in the finish.

PAIRING (1) disappointed at Doomben last start but only just missed here two starts back after a wide run. His dam won over this distance and with Jim Byrne he could go forward and dictate a tempo.

KAHRABA (9) is fitter for three outings and her pedigree says this trip is what she needs. From a good gate, Dale Smith will know what to do.

VERDICT: TARANAKI (4) is the one with upside.

None of these leap off the page and Stuart Kendrick has the Lonhro colt LIMERO (5) resuming. A half-brother to Ef Troop he trials well but is yet to produce it in on raceday. He has found a moderate race and with Jim Orman there will be nowhere to hide.

ON THE TIGHTROPE (6) hasn't done a lot in his trials but has been gelded and won't have to be a star to account for these. By Trapeze Artist out of a Brisbane Cup winner he may need longer but class could tell.

LUVARCHIE (2) has speed and was run down late here last start. From the wide gate Ryan Maloney will take no prisoners.

SECRET STATEMENT (4) is another that trials better than he races and his brother has won twice in Hong Kong. He won a recent trial and on his home track Jaden Lloyd can overcome the gate,

VERDICT: Trusting LIMERO (5) to run to his trials.

Another uninspiring affair and whilst OUR RED PLANET (3) has only won one race he has placed several times in Saturday grade. He will find this class to his liking and with them likely to go helter-skelter early Cejay Graham can round them up late.

MAIORI (5) has come up from Victoria to join Billy Healey and got the job done narrowly in a 'flutter' at Toowooma. She has won up to 1100m and with Emily Lang's 2kg claim will give a sight again.

KWIK AS HELL (6) finds it hard to win but rarely misses a place. She has speed and Jake Bayliss will have her at the pointy end for a long way.

TANTRUMS (8) came from a long way back to beat all but the dominant The Fixer in a strong Class 1 last week. That is the first form she has shown since coming North but a repeat would have her in the finish.

VERDICT: OUR RED PLANET (3) will enjoy the easier class.

David Vandyke strikes well at these meetings and DARK CHILL (3) put the writing on the wall coming from well back to beat all but Porky at Doomben last start. This bigger track suits and fitter for two outings Ben Thompson can get the job done.

DEMON DARB (1) had support when having his first outing for Rob Heathcote and wasn't beaten far at Ipswich. That track and trip suit second-up and with Mark Du Plessis staying on he can show what he's got.

ENVIABLE (5) will also have benefited from a first-up run at Ipswich and hasn't missed a place second-up. He won his Maiden here and will get all the favours with Damien Thornton from a good gate.

DUNZOOMING (4) looked good winning his Maiden at his first start at Ipswich for Josh Sweeney but subsequently over-raced and disappointed from a wide gate at the same track. This bigger circuit may help and if he settles has improvement,

VERDICT: DARK CHILL (3) for mine.

This race could fall away. BETTER BE NORDY (4) has come back in good order and whilst Bezique was far too good at Doomben beat the rest. This trip on a bigger track is more suitable and he will get the last crack at them.

ZORAYDAH (12) wasn't helped by the wide gate at Doomben and was never sighted. She has less convictions than most and with a positive ride from Ben Thompson can get in the frame.

MIO SORRENTO (2) won first-up last preparation and has benefited from a recent trial. This small field suits, the tongue-tie goes back on and he won't be far away in running.

RUBAAHY (8) showed promise at her first preparation and wasn't far away when supported at Ipswich on resuming. This trip may be her limit but she will strip fitter and could control the race.

VERDICT: BETTER BE NORDY (4) hard to beat.
