Star Witness under injury cloud

MELBOURNE, Sept 4 AAP - Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness is under an injury cloud after he was a late withdrawal from the Group Two Danehill Stakes at Flemington.

The three-year-old colt was scratched on veterinary advice less than three hours before Saturday's 1200m feature with swelling to an off-hind leg.

Trained by Danny O'Brien, Star Witness resumed last start with a close third to Toorak Toff and Soul in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) and was one of the favourites for the Danehill.

He has won three of his five starts, including the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) last autumn.
