Slipper money for Karuta Queen and Sepoy

Punters have not been put off by Karuta Queen's defeat in the Black Opal on Sunday with some big bets struck on her to win the Golden Slipper with Sportingbet Australia.

The Magic Millions winner blew from $6.00 to $13 after the Black Opal but Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters quickly stepped back into the previously undefeated filly.

"Not many horses that get beaten in the Black Opal are competitive in the Slipper but punters have been willing to forgive that run," Sullivan said.

"She has been backed from $13 into $11 since Sunday with one bet to take out $26,000 and a couple of other solid bets as well.

"You're Canny has a handy record too but there would need to be a significant improvement to be taking on the likes of Sepoy."

Blue Diamond winner Sepoy is the $2.00 favourite for the Slipper and Sullivan said he couldn't recall a horse so dominant in the market at this stage.

"It is very unusual to have an even money favourite in the Slipper on the day of the race, let alone weeks before the race," he said.

"Punters simply don't care that he has continued to shorten and the money just keeps coming for him.

"One punters has got him going for plenty after having $50,000 on Black Caviar in the Newmarkets all up Sepoy in the Slipper for a collect of over $180,000."
