Punter turns $1 into $154k with Flemington Cup day bet
One TAB punter has picked up a cool $154,759 after outlaying a single dollar on an exotic bet at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
The Victorian punter picked the eyes out of the Early Quaddie, taking just one horse in each of the four legs.
With that approach, the punter's $1 investment saw them land 100% of the declared dividend.
Grey galloper Love Tap ($12) took out the opening leg (race three) of the Early Quaddie, before High Approach caused a boilover in race four, scoring at $21.
The favourites - led by the Patrick Payne-trained Quang Tri ($2.50F) - were nowhere to be seen in the 1800m affair.

Race five saw an even bigger upset, with Renosu - easily the least favoured of the four Godolphin gallopers - booming home to salute at $31.
The punter's Early Quaddie masterclass was complete after Bartholomeu Dias ($34) knocked off Just Folk in race six - the Listed Furphy Plate (1800m).
"That is one of the best wins on Melbourne Cup day that I have seen in my near 12 years in the job," said TAB's Andrew Georgiou.
Meanwhile, Gold Trip's Melbourne Cup victory saw one savvy futures punter pick up $108,450.
The punter in question had $4,100/$7,750 each-way on the Maher and Eustace-trained import at $17/$5 on October 25.
They took unders, with Gold Trip paying $21, but they certainly won't be complaining.
