A midweek wedged between Christmas and New Year often provides the unexpected and market leads should not be ignored.

With the rail out seven metres on a good track all will get their chance and staying with the better stables and in-form riders usually proves profitable.

UNLOCK EVERYTHING PUNTERS HAS TO OFFER FOR JUST $4.99

Tony Gollan has two well-bred first starters to confuse the issue but the Darby Racing filly trained by Chris Munce SHE'S A ROGUE (4) did little wrong at her first preparation running Mishani Renegade close at both outings. She was dominant in a recent trial and with Martin Harley will be hard to beat.

OMILANA (3) is a Darby Racing entrant with the Gollan stable which has shown promise at trials. By Capitalist out of a winning I Am Invincible mare she has a speedster's pedigree and will get every chance with the red-hot Angela Jones.

The other Gollan runner SUGACANE CHAMPAGNE (5) also has a speed pedigree being by Spirit Of Boom out of a winning Lonhro mare. Her trials have been equally impressive and she won't lose anything with Steph Thornton from gate one.

TRIFLING (6) wasn't far behind SHE'S A ROGUE (4) on debut and put in a sound effort in the Calaway Gal last start, She will have benefited from her most recent outing and Michael Cahill stays aboard.

Verdict: Watch market on first-starters but SHE'S A ROGUE (4) has form on the board.

Barry Lockwood can get them ready first-up and whilst YOURALLTHAT (8) has a few convictions she was racing in stronger company than this last preparation. With a good gate and Angela Jones there will be no excuses.

GODDESS OF PEACE (9) is another that has had her chances but possesses abundant speed and with Michael Cahill will get all the favours from gate one. If she jumps on terms she will be hard to catch.

CANYOUFEELIT (3) is a half-sister to the speedy Princess Bojack and showed improvement at her most recent trial. The Morrisey stable can be hard to follow but all the gear goes on and with Boris Thornton a strong debut is on the cards.

SUPAIRO (7) is bred for speed and won a recent trial at Murwillumbah. Matt Dunn will have him ready to go and Brodie Loy will take no prisoners.

Verdict: The market will tell the tale but I have a liking for YOUALLTHAT (8).

Gates are important at this 1000m start and STUCK IN A DREAM (11) has had multiple trials since her debut in a Group 2 race at Randwick. Blinkers go on and with Corey Bayliss from gate one she will get all the favours.

IDONEUS'S (9) manners were costly at Ipswich but a better gate, bigger track and stronger rider in Ben Thompson all work to her advantage. She has had her chances but trials well enough for this.

I AM TAKINGTHELOT (8) raced wide and did nothing at debut in a race won by the stablemate Latakia. She has won a trial since, the tongue-tie comes off and Angela Jones goes on. The gate tests but she ls likely to get back and can hit the line.

DEEP MILLIONS (5) is a half-brother to Alpine Edge and has benefited from two quiet trials with Boris Thornton. He stays on and a good debut is expected.

Verdict: Another 'market watch' race but STUCK IN A DREAM (11) is drawn to win.

The small field works in favour of the consistent mare AVOLONTE (4) which was too good for a Class 5 field at the Gold Coast last start. Fitter for two outings, Jim Orman can take advantage of the inside gate and she is the one to beat

ROYAL EXIT (5) did plenty wrong but was only run down late by Zoukina at the Gold Coast. This bigger track will suit and with a strong rider in Martin Harley a more tractable performance will see him in the finish.

PARADISE ISLAND (6) has been racing consistently all preparation and beat her own sex in a Class 2 at the Gold Coast last start. This is harder but she drops 3.5kg and Andrew Mallyon rides well for Kris Lees.

THE CULLINAN (3) has never flattered first-up and would like longer but he is much better than these when right. Two of his four wins have been at Eagle Farm and if the tempo suits he could run right by them.

Verdict: AVOLONTE (4) for me.

Chris Waller brings them North to get a win and YASMEEN (11) was used up early from a wide gate on debut but was still fighting at the end. A better gate helps, Jim Orman stays on and if she handles the Eagle Farm 1400m will be hard to beat.

DARK HARMONY (2) was slowly away, covered ground and only just missed over 1200m at Doomben last start. This bigger track and 1400m should be right up his alley and fitter for two outings he gets his chance to show a will to win.

VALIANT JOAN (10) wasn't far away against her own sex here last start. She is improving with racing and this field isn't much harder. Brodie Loy stays on and will have her in the finish.

GERRYMANDER (7) has been trying for a while but has placed three times this preparation and blinkers go on. A good gate helps and if anyone can get her over the line Angela Jones can.

Verdict: YASMEEN (11) may be the one with most upside.

Kris Lees has MAURICENTLY (5) racing consistently and she will appreciate this bigger track. She gets back and will need a tempo but if things go to plan for Andrew Mallyon will be giving them some hurry-up late.

KOPANGI (6) is another that has a nasty habit of missing the start and giving himself too much work to do. Kyle Wilson-Taylor replaces Jim Orman and from gate one a positive ride will have him in the finish.

EARLY THOUGHTS (9) ran them off their legs to narrowly win a Class 2 at the Sunshine Coast last start. This is harder but he drops 3.5kg and with Mark Du Plessis could try and steal it.

Angela Jones rode four winners here last week and whilst GERARDJOSEPH (8) is up in grade he was only run down late last start in a strong Class 1. He is improving with racing, won't mind the extra distance and with only 52.5kg can give a sight.

Verdict: If the speed is there MAURICENTLY (5) can run them down.

It is always hard to go straight from a Maiden to a Class 1 but OLENTIA (12) destroyed them in a Three-Year-Old Maiden at Doomben on debut and may be above average. She takes on older horses but drops 1.5kg, is well drawn and won't lose anything with Jim Orman replacing Jim Byrne.

Brian Wakefield can get them ready and MILIARENSE (7) has shown herself ready to go with two good trials. She was up to this class last preparation, blinkers go on and Larry Casidy will have her near the speed throughout.

PUTONAREDLIGHT (8) is developing a reputation as a non-winner and whilst may be the best horse in the field her will to win is under question. She will strip fitter after her strong first-up effort behind King Kapa and with Kyle Wilson-Taylor will get every chance.

POMADE (6) is fitter for two outings and only faded late last start at Doomben. The gate tests but a positive ride by Andrew Mallyon could take luck out of the equation.

Verdict: OLENTIA (12) can handle the Class rise.

There is upside with CHAMPAGNE POP (11) which did things wrong but got the job done when resuming at the Sunshine Coast. She is a work-in-progress but showed promise last preparation and came from a long way back to run fifth in the Winx Guineas. This extra distance will suit, she drops 3kg and Martin Harley will have her in the box seat throughout.

Desleigh Forster is backing DE MANARA (6) up quickly after running Briar's Kingdom and Billy's Bro close here in a Class 3 last week. He meets a similar field here and Brodie Loy will be in the box seat throughout.

PETUNIA (1) rarely runs poorly and showed she was in for a good preparation when beating a strong Benchmark 65 field at Doomben. Eagle Farm hasn't been her favourite track but Kyle Wilson-Taylor's 1.5kg claim and a good gate help.

SHAKAKHAN (14) has won two of three since resuming and looked to have more to give last start at the Gold Coast. Mark Du Plessis replaces Robbie Fradd and she won't be far away in running.

Verdict: Staying with CHAMPAGNE POP (11).
