Ballarat preview and tips $21 value bet
Getting back to his home track can produce a win for a Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained galloper while a $21 chance could produce an upset in the last race of Tuesday's Ballarat meeting.
Here are Brad Waters' best bets for the eight-race card.
BEST BET
The winner of three races from his seven starts to date, Vivideel raced on the speed before boxing on well at Sandown last time. He's back to the provincials and will be hard to beat.
NEXT BEST
KHANT BEE (R3 No.5 - $9)
The Andrew Bobbin-trained three-year-old gelding did his best work late on debut over 1600m at Stawell. He can go one better at Ballarat.
PYROIS (R6 No.6 - $4.40)
Like Vivideel, Pyrois is trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy and he chased well behind a speedy galloper first-up. Will be fitter and expecting him to charge home late.
VALUE BET
MERE FANCY R8 No.6 - $23)
Jamie Mott takes the ride aboard the John McArdle-trained mare who was OK behind a talented galloper when resuming at Geelong. She'll be harder to hold out this time.
THE JOCKEY
LINDA MEECH
Four of Linda Meech's five rides at Ballarat (she has a dual-booking in race 5) are at single-figure odds. WINSOME FLOWERS (Race 1 No. 7 - $51), KHANT BEE (Race 3 No. 5 - $9), KEEFY'S BRO (Race 4 No. 5 - $5.50), TEQUILA STORM (Race 5 No. 4 - $7.50) or OUR SILVER LININGS (Race 5 No. 7 - $8), GENRICHERO (Race 8 No. 7 - $6.50).
