Dominant Cox Plate favourite Romantic Warrior has been stopped in his tracks by a typhoon, causing him to miss an important trial on Friday morning.

Jockey Karis Teetan was booked to ride the Danny Shum-trained galloper in the 1000m turf trial at Sha Tin, before Super Typhoon Saola put paid to their plans.

While the trials have been rescheduled for Monday, Romantic Warrior is due to enter quarantine in Hong Kong over the weekend, to get him to Melbourne on September 16 and will, at this stage not be able to trial.

Romantic Warrior, and travelling stablemate Romantic Charm have passed Racing Victoria's veterinary protocols and are due to undergo one final check up in transport quarantine.

Caulfield Cup second favourite West Wind Blows will also be on the same flight, after he links up to Hong Kong from Europe.

While Romantic Warrior is the dominant $4 favourite for the Cox Plate on October 28, he is also the $2.25 favourite for the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington three weeks earlier.

Superstar jockey James McDonald, who is unbeaten on the horse in three starts, has been booked to ride in both the Turnbull and Cox Plate.

Romantic Warrior was put through his paces last week in an all-weather barrier trial, where he finished second over 1200m.

Superstar sprinter Lucky Sweynesse was also down to trial at Sha Tin on Friday, with the multiple Group 1 winner due to kick off his campaign on the first day of the new season in Hong Kong next Sunday under jockey Zac Purton.
