Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes and Australasian Oaks nominations

8 Self-trumpeter votes for El Pres | The Quokka preview | Cowardly approach to Jenni

The Adelaide Racing Carnival has caught the eye of interstate trainers, with raiders from Victoria and New South Wales dominating nominations for the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) and Australasian Oaks (2000m) next Saturday.

Ciaron Maher will be out to secure a third Sangster Stakes win in succession with his star sprinting filly Estriella, while proven mare I Am Me also headlines a talented list of 20 entries for the $1m feature.

In-form mare Benedetta will continue her Group 1 mission for trainer Jason Warren, while Graheme Begg-trained mare Passive Aggressive is set to take aim at Group 1 level once again after coming out of retirement earlier this year.

Last start Group 1 winner Zapateo - trained by James Cummings - is also nominated - she ran third last year.

Phillip Stokes - who has training bases at Pakenham and Morphettville - is the local hope, the Adelaide-expat trainer nominating promising sprinters Stretan Angel and Climbing Star.

Master trainer Chris Waller has nominated gun mare Roots, with champion jockey James McDonald set to ride.

Patrick Payne is aiming for seven consecutive wins with impressive filly Wings Of Song after her Group 3 win in the Auraria Stakes (1800m) on Saturday. She headlines 32 horses nominated for the $1 million Australasian Oaks.

Pulchritudinous is already a G1-winner in New Zealand, and has been nominated to have her first start for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable, the filly one of two runners for the Waterhouse-Bott yard along with Harvest Moon.

Concello is one of four Waller fillies nominated for the Oaks, along with Ahuriri, Firestorm and Kenyada.

Quickster finished runner-up to Wings Of Song in the Auraria Stakes and has been nominated for Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman, along with Mollynickers who ran third in the same race.

Last start Group 3 winner Vibrant Sun - trained by Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr), and impressive last-start winner Coco Sun (Tony & Calvin McEvoy) are also among the nominations.

Three local gallopers have been nominated, the Andrew Gluyas-trained Seeking Stardom, Sentimental Flame for Travis Doudle and maiden Shut that D'Or - trained by Garret Lynch.
