Green Moon rising in Cox Plate

Green Moon has been singled out by punters as the horse to beat in Saturday’s Cox Plate.

Since drawing barrier five for the Moonee Valley Group 1, online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has reported unprecedented backing for the six-year-old.

Green Moon remains steady as the $5.00 second favourite behind three-year-old Pierro, who has eased from $3.70 to $3.80.

“Green Moon is easily the best backed runner. We have taken more bets and more money on the gelding than any other runner,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.

“Green Moon was impressive winning the Turnbull Stakes and handles the Valley. There is also the Craig Williams factor, the punters love him.

“Williams is also in great form winning the Caulfield Cup last week on Dunaden and he’s trying to complete the Cup-Cox Plate double for the second year running.”

Other three-year-olds Proisir and All Too Hard have also attracted punters interest. The Waterhouse trained Proisir has firmed from $9.00 into $8.50 and Caulfield Guineas winner All Too Hard $10 into $9.00.
