Green Moon headlines Australian Cup field

MELBOURNE, March 6 AAP - Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon will have 12 rivals as he bids to add the Group One Australian Cup to his list of big-race wins at Flemington on Saturday.

The Lloyd Williams-owned Green Moon, winner of the Group One Turnbull Stakes and Melbourne Cup at Flemington in the spring, has come up with barrier nine in the $1 million feature over 2000m.

The Australian Cup, one of two Group Ones on the Super Saturday program, will feature two three-year-olds with Victoria Derby winner Fiveandahalfstar to start from gate four and Autumn Classic winner Super Cool to jump from barrier three.

Adelaide galloper Eclair Surprise has the rails draw while well-performed Perth gelding Mr Moet has the outside gate.

Williams has a worthy second-stringer in Mourayan, a Luke Currie mount.
