1L WINNER HITS $280 in the run
He saluted by a widening one-length margin but the winner of the first at Morphettville actually hit a high of $280 in the run. Magic Max, sent out at $5.12 (BSP), was slow to begin from barrier three in the 1000m contest, settling at the tail of the eight-horse field. Jockey Rochelle Milnes was still two lengths off the second-last horse with 500m to run, before steering Magic Max to the outside approaching the 300m. With at least five lengths to make up at the furlong marker, 'Max' exploded late to record a blistering win - the fifth of his 33-start career.
Race two at Morphettville also saw a flurry of in-play activity, with three runners trading at shorter than $1.60 in the run. Punchin ($1.30), Season In De Sun ($1.50) and Tullaghan ($1.58) were all short favourites at one point before Sharma Princess knocked them all off in the 2250m 0-64 Handicap.Watch Maxy go ðŸ-¥

BEST-BACKED WINNERS
Randwick saw a day of relative blowouts before the eventual abandoning of proceedings after the G1 All Aged Stakes. One horse that wasn’t a blowout was the brilliant Broadsiding in the G1 Champagne Stakes. The Godolphin colt traded favouritism with Manaal and the late push for the former drew them closer in the markets.
Belvedere Boys was another well-supported winner of race two at Randwick, with 58% of market activity around him, despite a small drift. That is one brave win for Broadsiding in the G1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick for @JamesCummings88 and @mcacajamez!@aus_turf_club @godolphin pic.twitter.com/cE7IlcbvAk

The best-backed winner of the entire day actually came up in the opening event at Mornington. Perspiration gave his backers no reason to sweat with an impressive victory, with 54% of $526,000 matched around him. Also at Mornington, Sea What I See was a very popular elect in race seven and looks destined to roll on to bigger things.
