MELBOURNE, Dec 1 AAP - Group One winning jockey Nikita Beriman has had a three-month suspension for failing to let a horse run on its merits cut in half on appeal.

Beriman was found guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure last-placed Shadow Land was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place at Warrnambool on November 4.

Beriman's suspension was to run from November 9 to February 9 and she appealed the decision and the severity of penalty.

Beriman was granted a stay of proceedings until November 30.

On Wednesday the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board varied the suspension to end on midnight January 14.

Beriman was found to have failed to make sufficient effort to improve her position on Shadow Land from near the 250 metre mark until after passing the 50 metre mark in the Warrnambool Mazda 6 Maiden Plate (1400m) at Warrnambool.
