SYDNEY, Nov 26 AAP - Craig Williams will get the chance for a Group One victory on Dunaden following confirmation he will ride the Melbourne Cup winner at the Hong Kong International meeting.
Currently riding on a six week contract in Japan, Williams will go to Hong Kong on December 11 to ride the French horse in the International Vase (2400m).
Williams missed the chance to make history by winning the three spring majors due to a suspension which kept him out of the Melbourne Cup.
He won the Caulfield Cup on Southern Speed and the Cox Plate on Pinker Pinker and rode Dunaden in his Geelong Cup win.
Christophe Lemaire was called in to ride Dunaden in the Cup but will be required for another French horse in the Vase.
Dunaden beat Red Cadeaux in the closest ever finish to the Melbourne Cup and will renew his rivalry with that horse in Hong Kong.
Lemaire will ride Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up Shareta in Sunday's Japan Cup.
The jockey is the retained rider for the Aga Khan who has Shareta and her Alain de Royer Dupre-trained stablemate Vadamar entered for the Vase.
Williams will be aboard local stayer Tosen Jordan in the Japan Cup but his mission has been made harder by barrier 16.
