MELBOURNE, Feb 8 AAP - Four-time premier jockey Craig Williams has appealed a 12-meeting suspension incurred at Caulfield.
Williams was found guilty of careless riding on Carbon Trader who caused Old Jock to clip heels and almost dislodge apprentice Jason Maskiell in the Selangor Turf Club Handicap (2000m) on Saturday.
Williams, who was suspended from midnight on Monday until midnight on February 19, will have his appeal against the decision and the severity of the penalty heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Wednesday.
The champion jockey, who is set to miss next Saturday's Group One William Reid Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley, has not requested a stay of proceedings.
