SYDNEY, May 20 AAP - Trainer Gary Portelli could not be happier with his horses ahead of the weekend's action, his only problem is knowing which state he will be in on Saturday.

Torrential rain in Brisbane has put the Doomben 10,000 meeting in grave doubt with Portelli hoping the program goes ahead with stablemates and wet trackers Something Anything and Over The Wicket in the 1350-metre feature.

At Randwick, Portelli has a couple of three-year-olds, Typhoon Fury and Talaana, going around with the latter in the mix for a trip to Brisbane for the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 6.

"I've booked a flight and we don't get refunds so I'm hoping we make it to Brisbane but I'll probably see you at Randwick, who knows?," Portelli said.

Both Talaana and Typhoon Fury are running in a 1400-metre Handicap.

Talaana, a Tale Of The Cat colt, comes into the race after a first-up fifth to Margham over 1100 metres at Rosehill on May 2.

"We always thought he might be a horse we could take up for the Queensland Guineas but he needs to win on Saturday to warrant taking him up there," Portelli said.

Typhoon Fury, who finished second to Sarthemare in last year's Black Opal Stakes, is yet to win from 11 starts.

The talented gelding carried a whopping 60kg when third to Mocha Coffee at Canterbury on April 28 and Portelli has been pleased with his work since.

Something Anything comes into the Doomben 10,000 after running a close sixth to Duporth in the Group One BTC Cup at the same venue on May 9.

The five-year-old, who won the Group Two Villiers in December, has two wins and three placings from seven starts on heavy tracks.

"He was only beaten 1.9 lengths and the others were all tuned right up," Portelli said of his last start.

"The big wet hasn't impacted on their training programs. Over The Wicket ran last week and I gave Something Anything a fast gallop last Saturday morning."

Over The Wicket was posted wide throughout the BTC Classic in which he finished sixth to Court.

"He just keeps drawing wide alleys," Portelli said.

"He's had no luck at all recently, it was a great effort last start and with a bit of luck he's a chance."
