SYDNEY, March 14 AAP - Ex-Darley owned filly Tier makes her debut for the Trent Greentree stable at Grafton with the aid of a couple of lucky charms.
The three-year-old, raced by Sydney-based Terry Carr, steps out in Monday's Bettortrader Maiden (1100m) with Glenn Lynch in the saddle.
Previously trained by Peter Snowden for Sheikh Mohammed, Tier will be out to continue an amazing strike rate Coffs Harbour-based Greentree has enjoyed with horses from the same background.
"Through Trevor Lobb (Darley bloodstock manager) I've had about half a dozen horses and all have won for us," Greentree said.
"Horses like Cascade, Rosewater and Student come to mind and there's others too.
"It's been a great strike rate. Hopefully Tier can continue the trend, beginning tomorrow."
Greentree's other luck charm is Carr.
" Terry is one of my major clients," Greentree said. "He's been a lucky owner.
"The first horse he ever raced was Patezza who won a Doncaster (2005) and close to a couple of million dollars."
Trained by Guy Walter, Patezza won eight races and $1.78 million prizemoney.
Greentree has had Tier in his stable for around seven weeks.
The Quest For Fame filly was runner-up to Fates at Wyong on debut in December then 3-1/4 lengths fifth to Ollein Blaze at Kembla Grange on January 2.
"She's a lovely big filly who is well educated and has worked nicely at home," Greentree said.
"She can still do a few things wrong but on her form and what she's shown me, looks a live chance tomorrow."
Greentree, who has 12 horses in work, has three other strong chances on the nine-race program - Imontop (race three), Holding On (race five) and Master Jamie (race six).
Greentree said in form mare Graicosa would be saved for the Country Cup at Newcastle on Wednesday with Glen Boss to ride.
Imontop, formerly with Trevor Bailey on the Gold Coast and resuming, had worked well Greentree added.
"She deserves to break through," he said.
"Holding On, an Encosta de Lago filly who won her only start at Taree, steps up in distance but Glenn Lynch and myself are of the opinion she's looking for 1600 metres.
"She's a rangy filly with plenty of scope.
"And I've fiddled with a few gear changes with Master Jamie. He can be his own worst enemy. We're hoping the changes will benefit."
