Super Family Day at Flemington drew 16,854 racegoers on a perfect 27 degree autumn day in sunny Melbourne.

The enthusiastic crowd witnessed Bart Cummings continue his dominance of Group 1 thoroughbred racing, taking the Crown Guineas with outsider Rock Classic before earning second and third placings with Sirmione and Moatize in the Darley Australian Cup.

Rock Classic beat many fancied rivals in the Group 1 Crown Guineas, including classy filly Set for Fame, Lloyd Williams' Linton and short-priced favourite Denman, paying over $13 for the win.

Peter Moody%u2019s Set for Fame took second place, with Linton, who has been compared with champion galloper Efficient, moving from the rear of the field for a fast finishing third in a performance that augurs well for the spring.

The wide open $1 million Darley Australian Cup delivered a breathtaking photo finish with Zipping beating Cummings%u2019 Sirmione by a nose on the line.

Cummings%u2019 other Cup entrant, outsider Moatize, filled third place on a day when the octogenarian also won with Precedence in the PFD Food Services Handicap. The master%u2019s four runners for the day delivered two wins, a second and a third.

Families enjoyed plenty of entertainment off the track, including a live performance by Play School star Justine Clarke that drew hundreds to the east end of the famous Flemington lawn.

Clarke, whose albums include Songs to Make You Smile and I Like to Sing, was a hit with young racegoers, and more than a few older patrons as well.

The Victoria Racing Club took the decision to throw open the gates at Flemington racecourse providing all racegoers with free entry to Super Family Day after the postponement of the Super Saturday program after race six due to the unexpected deluge experienced at Flemington racecourse last weekend.

Families were able to get up close and personal with former champions and Melbourne Cup winning horses, Might and Power and Rogan Josh, who made the trip from their home at Living Legends to spend the day at Flemington.

Super Family Day also highlighted two very special causes close to the Victoria Racing Club%u2019s heart.
National Jockey Celebration Day was commemorated with a special blessing of the Flemington track by Father Brendan Dillon.

Over 20 jockeys formed a line of honour in the mounting yard prior to the National Jockey Celebration Day %u2013 Victoria Plate for a minute%u2019s silence to honour their fallen colleagues.

The VRC also dedicated the Gr 3 Volunteers Matron Stakes to thanking emergency service volunteers for their work in protecting our state from fire and other natural disasters.
