SYDNEY, Feb 23 AAP - Emerging talent Somepin Anypin will take the next step towards his autumn goals when he steps out in a Warwick Farm barrier trial on Friday.

The four-year-old had always shown promise and put the runs on the board last preparation when he followed successive victories at Rosehill with a stakes win in the Group Three Hawkesbury Cup.

He will step out in the opening 1200-metre heat on Friday which also contains Group One winners Stand to Gain and Mirjulisa Lass.

"I'm getting him ready for the Liverpool City Cup first-up," trainer Gary Portelli said.

"He's spot-on.

"He's come back a more relaxed and mature horse.

"As a young horse he could be quite hypo but he's almost a kids' pony now."

The Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) is at Warwick Farm on March 10 and will be a stepping stone towards the Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 21.

Among the other high-profile horses at the trials on Friday will be Group One Myer Classic winner Hurtle Myrtle who will go around against the speedy Title.
