Owners say Ortensia decision stinks

SYDNEY, Sept 2 AAP - Appeals have been confirmed over the disqualification of the outstanding sprinting mare Ortensia from her first and so far only Group One triumph.
Managing part-owner Alistair Fraser has appealed against Ortensia being stripped of $183,000 in prizemoney from her win in the Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick during the Sydney autumn carnival.
Trainer Tony Noonan escaped penalty but has appealed against the decision to find him guilty of presenting a horse to race with a prohibited substance in its system.
Ortensia returned a positive sample to ractopamine, a substance used in pigs to increase muscle fibre.
The long-running swab saga came to a head on Monday when Racing NSW stewards took the race off Ortensia and awarded it to the Chris Waller-trained Shellscrape.
Confirming the appeals, Racing NSW said no date had been set for a hearing.
