Ill Nolan gets perfect tonic after Fantastic Blue win

BRISBANE, March 13 AAP - Trainer Paul Nolan received the perfect tonic following recent heart surgery when winter carnival-bound Fantastic Blue won at Doomben.
Fantastic Blue, ridden by boom apprentice Tim Bell, covered plenty of ground after being caught wide before scoring by 1-1/4 lengths in Saturday's Coca-Cola Handicap (1615m).
Michael Nolan, who deputised for his ill father, said Fantastic Blue would more than likely be directed towards the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm in June.
"It's a good result for Dad whose been crook," Nolan said.
"Dad had a heart attack recently and had to have open heart surgery.
"He's coming home tomorrow and this will lift his spirits a lot."
Nolan again praised Bell for his coolness under pressure when Fantastic Blue was trapped deep most of the way.
It was Bell's second win on the three-year-old from his past three starts.
"Dad has always believed this bloke will stay and no doubt he'll head for the three-year-old races in the winter," Nolan said.
"The Queensland Guineas is obviously the race to look at but Dad's always been of the impression he'll stay."
