MELBOURNE, Aug 30 AAP - Dwayne Dunn has picked up the ride on brilliant Queensland filly Military Rose in the Danehill Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich said she was forced to look for another rider for the Magic Millions Classic and Reisling Stakes winner as Michael Rodd was committed to riding for the Mark Kavanagh stable in the 1200-metre Group Two feature.

Kavanagh has Gig Guide and Shrapnel engaged in the Danehill.

"Michael rode her in a jump out at Flemington last Friday and we were very happy with her," Heinrich said.

"He will go back on to her after her first-up run."

Military Rose, a daughter of General Nediym, won the first five of her six starts before being sent out favourite in the Golden Slipper and finishing 11th behind Crystal Lily.

"I suppose the big thing now obviously after a hard two-year-old campaign is that she comes back," Heinrich said.

"She's given every indication that she's good. She's 24 kilos heavier than she was when she won the Magic Millions, she looks a million dollars and she's feeling good.

"She's not very big and she didn't grow much but she filled out.

"I couldn't be happier with her but you are always just that a little worried when they start that three-year-old campaign."

Dunn, who could, subject to appeal, have another Group One win to add to his record after Shellscrape's elevation to first following Ortensia's Galaxy disqualification on Monday, will also ride stablemate Sweepstaking in the Group Three Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m).

There were 18 nominations for the Danehill including Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness and the smart Queensland gelding Buffering who has won five of his seven starts and was narrowly beaten by Blackball in the Group Three Up And Coming Stakes (1200m) at Warwick farm last time out.
