MELBOURNE, March 11 AAP - Trainer Mat Ellerton says Crystal Lily will have to win the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick impressively to be paid up as a late entry into the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes.

A daughter of 2005 Golden Slipper winner Stratum, Crystal Lily has worked well the clockwise or Sydney direction at Flemington in preparation for Saturday's Group Three 1200m event.

"She's pretty light on her feet, she's a pretty natural sort of racehorse," said Ellerton who trains in partnership with his cousin Simon Zahra.

"We sent her out the reverse way last Friday morning by herself and she didn't blink an eyelid.

"She worked the reverse way again on Wednesday morning and she was as good as gold."

Damien Oliver will test Crystal Lily, as well as Blue Diamond third placegetter Beneteau in the Group Three Skyline Stakes (1200m), as a prospective Slipper mount on Saturday.

"She'd have to win and be impressive, that's the bottom line," Ellerton said.

Owner-breeder David Moodie would have to pay a $150,000 late entry fee to put Crystal Lily into the Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 3.

The filly is at $13 with TAB Sportsbet which has Solar Charged as $4.60 Slipper favourite ahead of Beneteau at $7 and Chance Bye ($8) with Blue Diamond winner Star Witness, who is also not nominated for the Slipper, next best at $9.

Crystal Lily has come on in leaps and bounds since two stakes placings from as many outings in the spring and has won two of her three starts this preparation.

She scored a brilliant 4-3/4 length victory over Bedhrah in the Listed Chairman's Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on February 27 a week after trying to lead all the way when sixth in the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

The filly beat Shaaheq when she won the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield first-up on January 26.

Shaaheq, who is also heading towards the Slipper and is at $15, subsequently ran second in the Blue Diamond and won last Saturday's Group Three Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

Crystal Lily is now $2.90 favourite with TAB Sportsbet for the Sweet Embrace after bets of $5,000 at $4 and $4,000 at $3.60 forced her price in following acceptances on Wednesday.

Ambers Waltz is at $4 with Zutara at $4.80 and Divorces at $5.50.
