Brenton Avdulla on two good mares at Rosehill
Brenton Avdulla's big autumn hope, Secret Admirer, returns on Saturday but the young jockey is also upbeat about stablemate Cabernet gaining some valuable black type in the Triscay Stakes.

SYDNEY, Feb 23 AAP - Brenton Avdulla's big autumn hope, Secret Admirer, returns on Saturday but the young jockey is also upbeat about stablemate Cabernet gaining some valuable black type in the Triscay Stakes.
Dual Group One winner Secret Admirer returns at Rosehill with Avdulla aboard in the Group Three Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) while Cabernet will shoot for a breakthrough stakes success in the Listed Triscay Stakes (1200m).
The Grahame Begg-trained Cabernet has been freshened since a dominant 2-3/4-length win over 1400m at Rosehill on January 21 with this race in mind.
"As soon as I won on her at Rosehill we decided to try to find one of these black-type races for her," Avdulla said.
"We've always thought of her as a black-type mare, just below the best.
"The 1200 metres is not her ideal distance because 1400 metres is usually a bit better for her, but being fresh and the way she's been going at home we expect her to run very well."
Cabernet has won five of her 14 starts with Avdulla aboard in four of her victories.
"I've had a lot of luck with her and I know how to ride her," he said.
"She's only got a short little sprint on her but when you can use it to her advantage she's always right in the race.
"I'm sure on Saturday if it's run to suit she'll be running well."
Cabernet is on the second line of TAB Sportsbet betting behind Dystopia, while Secret Admirer heads the Southern Cross Stakes market at $4.
The Epsom Handicap and Flight Stakes winner has to shoulder 59.5kg in her return race.
"I'm really looking forward to riding her," Avdulla said.
"She's had one soft trial and trialled nicely. She's got a big weight but she deserves it being a dual Group One winner.
"We're expecting her to run well. Hopefully class can get her over the line but we'll just be rapt if she can hit the line strongly especially with the big weight."
