SYDNEY, July 1 AAP - Hugh Bowman looks to have the Sydney jockeys' premiership all but sewn up and he is now setting out to try to win the NSW provincial title as well.

Bowman is in second position at present on 39 wins, one behind apprentice Tommy Berry.

He has seven rides on the eight-race card at Wyong on Thursday and gets his chance to take the lead with Berry having only three.

And one of Berry's mounts, Voltskabin, is only the second emergency in the last race.

Bowman's four strongest rides appear to be Munificent for Albert Stapleford in the David Harris Member For Wyong Maiden, the John O'Shea-trained Sadhana in the Jungle Juice Cessnock 7/7 Maiden, Gypsy Ruler for Taree trainer Michael Byers (HMA Valveco Class Two) and the Guy Walter-trained Bab Al Shams in the Break Thru Employment Solutions Class One.

Berry's best chance of adding to his score is on the Greg Hickman-trained Justifier in the Break Thru Employment Solutions (1200m).

Kerrin McEvoy scored his 1,000th winner at Randwick on Tuesday but work must continue and he has three rides at Wyong including two for Peter Snowden.

And while Snowden and Gai Waterhouse are involved in a battle for the Sydney trainers' premiership, Snowden trails Waterhouse by nine wins for the provincial title.

Snowden will start St Clement Danes in the Advanced Design Maiden (1350m) and Tages in the David Harris Maiden (1350m) at Wyong while Waterhouse has only one starter, Belle Asteri (Grant Buckley) who is resuming in the Jungle Juice Maiden (1200m).
