Aptly-named mare after city win

BRISBANE, Aug 31 AAP - Whydidyouleaveme, who was accidentally left behind at the sale yards following her purchase as a yearling, will be striving for her first city success at Doomben.
The aptly-named five-year-old is chasing the fourth win of her 22-start career in Wednesday's Lia Queensland Handicap (1200m).
Whydidyouleaveme was bought in Sydney by land developer Steve Little but is raced on lease by Greg Wagner who owns Bahram Stud near Toowoomba where trainer Roger Milne has a team of 20 horses in work.
"From what I understand she got her name after she was left behind at the sales in Sydney after being sold," Milne said.
"I train a few horses for Steve and some have been leased to Greg.
"I've got a Danehill Dancer, a Testa Rossa and a General Nediym for Greg so I'm not complaining."
Milne is confident Whydidyouleaveme can make amends for her last-start fifth when beaten just over two lengths by Chaste over 1200 metres at Doomben on August 21.
He has only trained Whydidyouleaveme for her last nine starts and rated her unlucky not to finish closer or possibly beat Chaste.
"She was never better than three deep the whole trip but she did have cover," Milne said.
"It was an excellent run but she ran up to her best."
Milne has tossed up whether to send Whydidyouleaveme to Sydney as a travelling companion for Epsom Handicap-bound Captain Sonador who makes his comeback from injury at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Group One-placed Captain Sonador hasn't raced since he was galloped on when sixth in Zabrasive's Rosehill Guineas (2000m) win on March 27.
His elite level placing came when he finished third to Shoot Out in the Randwick Guineas (1600m) a fortnight earlier.
"She (Whydidyouleaveme) could be worth taking away for some of the midweek meetings if she wins tomorrow but it's very unlikely she'll go away with him," Milne said.
"I'm taking Captain Sonador away on a three-horse float. He's a stallion so I don't think she'll be going with him."
