sushi sushi beaten , but not disgraced.....

a little bitter to see the champ beaten, but maybe a few little things to learn from the outing - driving tactics, workload, preparation etc.....also wasnt the best of drives, although the good thing to come out of it was he measured up against the best and did quite well, the time was really good over the long distance , he really had to fight , something he hasnt had to do for a very long time, his first ever as open class 4yo pacer, so maybe the run maybe was a good introduction into the elite class of racing.

I am not a huge harness raing fan, but I do sometimes watch the big races, which I did Saturday night. I thought Sushi Sushi went fantastic, and the experience will do him the world of good. To have Smokem Up in the death, applying the pressure, and to shake him off around the turn, shows just how good Sushi Sushi is. Sure, he got nabbed right on the post, by an outsider, but lots of horses would have capitulated coming around the bend, let alone just getting beaten in the last stride. Massive effort I thought from Sushi Sushi.

I agree prodavis, could not believe Highview Tommy was that price. His form in NZ was excellent and his first up run here was good. I don't think it was a fluke, he can win the Hunter Cup
