jaime its fine to come back and say i told you so after the race... to say it never had a hope is a joke mate. have you never had a wrap on a horse that failed to perform as you thought??? didn't think so... fact is he ran the first 1000, 8 lengths quicker than the other 2040mtr race of the day..... so if he was in that race he would have lead it by 8 lengths at half way. its debatable whether he went to hard, or didn't run out the 2000, or is at the end of his prep. or a combination of all 3 things.

Just read the Stewards Report, Lion Tamer humanely euthanased....far out...that's about as harsh as it can get. I just watched the race and then left the tab, so didn't know until now. Condolences to all involved.

interesting point - Ron Duficy just commented on twitter that "a trainers horse in melbourne has tested positive for arsenic poisoning... more details to come"

hey Arma, all good points, but. if you go back a couple of starts helmet was labelled a complete nut job, next start just holds on to win a mile event by a head or so. now you can clock and rate his sectionals all you like over a 3yo mile race but that aint going to mean jack squat in a cox plate. I'm surprised it finished 8th. the big bookies got ya's right from the start.

yes you make good points. a lot of people were banking on the fact he was rating higher than So You Think did last year. manawanui did however frank his form today... but clearly has a better racing style to suit the 2000mtr trip... i backed helmet and secret admirer, in hiensight.. probably should have left helmet alone at the price, but i don't feel ripped off for having backed him. nothing will beat over 1600 in the autumn, bar black caviar if she steps up.

Been looking for news of LION TAMER too. From the helicopter, PINKER PINKER was 3rd last with 900 to go, the gaps Craig Williams got are remarkable, Craig Williams is worth his weight in gold. Who is he riding in the Melbourne Cup ?

I'm happy with the result. Im happy JC (who was given next to no chance by the experts - including this fabulous forum) ran the perfect cox plate run bar the last 150m where he was gunned down by a gun jockey that like Moses parted the sea and slipped through along the barrier. RI unlucky with run but was fantastic at the end and loved Wall Street the rank outsider coming home late.

since pinker pinker means money money in malaysian, i should be in malaysia because i'm in the money :-) i think that in coming years we'll all look back on the stock stakes 2011 as the greatest & the most freaky form race of all time...got to love that stock stakes form !

greg eurell deserves all the accolades that he gets too because he transformed pinker pinker from a one dimensional horse to a multi-dimensional horse. if you go back & look at pinker pinker during her three year old season she always showed group 1 ability but her racing pattern let her down. during her off season, eurell got her to be more versatile & craig williams utilized that versatility today.

btw both pinker pinker's sire & dam, were mlb group winners so she is classy.

Been away for few days jst made it back from a messy Cox Plate day, backed one winner all day, so a terrible day and to top it off from what I can remember Helmet barely got the 1600 rather than the 2040 and JC was better than i thought he was and nearly got there, So i was close to completely wrong there. Cnt say I saw Pinker Pinker winning the Cox Plate coming, very very weird. Hope some had a collect.

can anyone tell me if Jimmy Choux and Pinker Pinker are off for a spell now? And also any word on Kavs filly Celebrity Girl? Thought it looked an excellent type until it met Atlantic Jewel...

scraggy celebrity girl will surely be spelling... the last 3 efforts she put in were of a horse that didn't really want to be there. not sure she runs a strong 1600 either... probably set her up for a few sprint races fresh in the autumn, that seemed to be her go.
