Get ready for the 2nd leg of the Speed Series, the Chairman's Sprint Prize (Race 8), this Sunday. The first three jockeys and horses past the post in the first leg of the Series all partner up again this Sunday. Do any of the other top-class contenders even stand a chance?
Due to suspension, Brett Prebble missed the ride on LUCKY NINE (No.1) in the first leg, the Kent & Curwen Centenary Sprint Cup. Prebble is back on board this time out; and hopes to repeat his recent excellent performance, which includes, of course, the 2011 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint.
Zac Purton again takes the ride on LITTLE BRIDGE (No.3). From 11 starts, Purton has racked up 6 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third. Gerald Mosse, who partnered LITTLE BRIDGE at his last 3 starts, will be riding SACRED KINGDOM (No.2) again.
Olivier Doleuze again partners EAGLE REGIMENT (No.6), the winner of the 1st leg of the Speed Series. Doleuze rode EAGLE REGIMENT into 2nd place on debut last season; and this season, the pair has been unbeaten in three starts. Can this winning combo break through for a first-time win over the 1200 metres?
Brett Doyle has been issued a Visiting Jockey's licence to stay in Hong Kong and ride JOY AND FUN (No.4), who ran second in the 1st leg of the Series. Doyle and JOY AND FUN have run five times this season for 1 win, 2 seconds, 1 fourth and 1 fifth. And don't forget, they also won the Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai back in March 2010!

I don't like Aussie John Moore much ~ ~ but ~ ~
Six of the last nine favourites have won the Group One Chairman's Sprint Prize at odds-on but every time there has been an upset, the shock has been provided by John Moore ~ and the old Aussie could be up to it again tomorrow! Which would turn me feral.
Let's go back to The 2008 THE CHAIRMAN'S SPRINT PRIZE --SACRED KINGDOM

JOY AND FUN won THE CHAIRMAN'S SPRINT PRIZE 2012
Full replay and STEWARDS PATROL FOOTAGE!
"If anyone deserves to win a Group 1, it's Joy And Fun," said Doyle, who was riding for the last time in Hong Kong this season before taking up a 6-week contract in Dubai. "He's been knocking on the door in all the big races and he couldn't have done it any better. It's great for me to end my time in Hong Kong with a Group 1 winner and we go to Dubai in good form.
"As long as he had a bit of cover, that's all I was worried about today. I dropped behind Eagle Regiment and we had Lucky Nine inside of me, so we had them all covered ~ it all worked out better from the draw, really. There's always a slight doubt going into a race like this after a couple of tough ones but all credit to the horse, he's very tough and Derek's done a great job keeping him in good form."
Trainer Tony Cruz did not discount the possibility of a return to Royal Ascot this summer. Joy And Fun's previous visit to England's premier racecourse, in June, 2010, resulted in the gelding suffering a serious injury when contesting the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes.
"There's a possibility," revealed the trainer, "everything's on the table and we'll assess him. If he hadn't injured himself in England he would have been a very strong contender that day.
"I have to thank my two boys and their great effort with this horse when he had that life-threatening injury in England. They spent most of the time nursing him and bringing him back."
