13's for Road To Rock is too good to pass up. Real eye catcher first up at Caulfield and he is working very nicely apparently. Mentality... what the??? couldnt even beat a bunch of E-graders at Caulfield. This is a great race. at least 8,9 winning chances

with rain pending ,SG will be a matter of the more you put on the more you get back and put V&P in for the quin.

Speed Gifted (or Vision and Power for that matter) couldn't get within 4l of Rangi or Danleigh surely? Both handle the wet fine! With Brown unable to slaughter Rangi from Dubai surely he wins this, Hughie on Danleigh concerns me though as he is the only jockey in Sydney who gets the absolute best out of his mounts all the time.

what are we betting on jockey's or horses?????

whatashotbyseve

 wrote Mar 3 2010 at 9:28am2010-03-03 09:28:47

Good jockey on an inferior horse will always triumph on an inferior jockey on a good horse. I won't back any horse that doesn't have a capable jockey on it - ie no Shinn or Brown. Melbourne they are all generally ok but only Rodd is what I would classify as a champion jockey. Sure Oliver and Boss have won more races but Rodd is a better jockey than them combined. Look at his ride on Outlandish Lad today for a reference point - masterful.

RANGIRANGDOO is clearly the one to beat and a good bet at short odds in this. His sectionals from last start were outstanding and the only way he get's beat here is by a bad ride...again, or he breaks his leg.

tricky barrier 1 isnt it BS? you want to back her cos you know she is flying and theyve posted big odds again... you know there will be speed here and ya know she will relish the mile... barrier 1!!! mmm... have seen her from that barrier before and deadset she looked like she had turbos on but had nowhere to go... late split through the guts anyone?

It's my wait for it..............LAY OF THE YEAR !!!!!!

Rosehill's straight is 408 meters long. So 82 metres less....So even if they do run the tempo like last start what hope has DANLEIGH got of catching RANGIRANGIRANGIRANGIDOOOO.....None
THESEO may lead and run a bold second or third....still can't believe DANLEIGH'S at that price...i am going to have a picnic.

Agree with a lot of stuff here. RANGI is the class horse and deserved fav where as DANLEIGH does look massive unders but a rule of mine is to never lay Hugh Bowman! Agree Nudge/Chilli ROAD TO ROCK is the best value in this race. He flies 2nd up. Im not sure about him on a wet track but I'm happy to play at 13's

agreed road to rock is the way to go but don't discount danleigh, he's a very good horse and will be strong to the line. if the pace is slow he won't need to drop right out, he will sit just off them and unleash his run...still like road to rock tho on his first up run and second up form

Steels

So the Expressway was luck? Maybe he looms up and doesn't off because he should be leading or put further back? or maybe the lesser group races like the Expressway or Crystal Mile are his convincing winning level, i dunno just think its harsh to say he has no ticker, i mean i'd take a consistent group horse anyday especially one with a 50% or 1in2 career win record.

whatashotbyseve

 wrote Mar 6 2010 at 10:45am2010-03-06 10:45:18

Look at the form out of the Crystal Mile. Rangi only need 3 legs to win that race. I was his biggest fan, but enough is enough. It's just too painful.

TheNudge

 wrote Mar 6 2010 at 10:47am2010-03-06 10:47:44

Gee I dunno what to make of Rangi's run. Was given a 12/10 ride by Timmy Clark, had the drop on Gai's horses, maybe did he go on the worse part of the track? Thats the only reason I can give to Rangi for losing that race. Top win by Theseo, great training effort by Gai. I have been knocking her for a month or two on here about how awful her horses are travelling but after today I have changed my mind. She has a stranglehold on the sydney autumn Carnival

MIGHTandPOWER69

 wrote Mar 6 2010 at 11:51am2010-03-06 11:51:18

I'm a fan of RDOO, but the ride on Theseo is full of merit. As most of Gai's horses, once again dictated the pace very well. IMO was the telling tale.

Rangi should definitely have won yesterday.......had Theseo's measure and stopped trying once he got his head in front....don't think it's a "ticker" problem.......he just thought he'd done his job. Needs to be ridden with cover and then let loose about the 200m on a drier track.........top class horse and getting better all the time......

Ps: nothing wrong with either ride.......both excellent jockeys.....imo

Gee thought Danleigh could easily have won this, Hugh Bowman a rare bad ride so much so that the stewards sat down and had a chat with him. Don't think the 1600 is any issue and I'll be backing him for the Donny, Waller is a very good trainer and Danleigh is a very good horse.
Theseo's effort outstanding, just so tough!

The best part about THESEO'S win was that he is only second up against fitter performed race horses.......RANGI had an extra couple under his belt and was rock hard and i thought should have gone straight past him.......i would be backing THESEO in everything he competes in this campaign!

 wrote Mar 9 2010 at 9:21am2010-03-09 09:21:28

danleigh was a moral beaten, no other horse mad any ground in the race, and he came from stone last made many lengths up, shocker of a ride by bowman. doncaster is his to loose that for sure.

Pluggerduck

 wrote Mar 9 2010 at 9:40am2010-03-09 09:40:27

For starters DANLEIGH was third to last for most of the race and PRIMA NOVA made considerably ground as well. DANLEIGH is the perfect type of horse to lay because he gets back and wins only when there is a fast tempo(like two starts ago) so for mine the only way he can win the doncaster is if it's run in break neck speed. Rangirangdoo was narrowly beaten in a Group 1 for the second time but on his figures he will be winning one very soon.
