Only thing I'm certain on as yet is that Nicconi is a big lay.

interesting runner here is Trusting ,this is the horse out of the 3yo's i thought could win the CP,
of the others AS has the runs on the board and Wanted is honest.

All Silent drawn ok I thought. Can sit on the outside of the grandstand side or stick to the flat side. Whatever scenario he should be winning, only a bad ride can stop him in my opinion.

TRUSTING has not een specifically set for this race, he's on a path to the Donny or all aged, but with blinkers, no weight & a guaranteed genuine tempo, has to be included as a chance. aLL SILENT the one to beat, but if they all run on the grandstnd side, suddenly he's on the fence, tough for him from there in a large field. I also rate EaGLE FaLLS as the main danger.

WANTED for me.

Look back on the past winners of this race. Nearly all of Australia's best sprinters have won this. It just seems to bring out the best in the best. The race just screams for All Silent to run behind and outside the grandstand side from that barrier. I don't think he will run into that much trouble as we are trying to find. If there is something that can beat him, then it will be a midfield to front horse that will set off a little earlier to steal a lead. I.e. SSB, Wanted or Eagle Falls. Imo it will be 1,13,6,12 for the first 4.

brilliant odds for STAR SPANGLED arent they... saver goes on same as last start... better suited here and will get a cosy run... still i cant go past WANTED... gotta follow him to the death this prep... has done everything right bar crossing the line first... this is his chance with featherweight, good draw and lack of paper speed... great odds.. what do ya do!!

Tickets just went around Caulfield...10 wide. Always hits the line hard down the straight. Any luck, it's his race! Great price considering the Fav, All Silent has to try and come up AGAIN. Love him as a horse but to have that ping, you have to have the ideal prep. Newmarket seems to be an afterthought after going to HK.

just had an interesting conversation with a friend of david hayes, they had dinner the other night and apparently hayes said he thinks trusting will beat his two and win the race, not uncommon for a trainer to predict a horse that will beat his but does seem strange considering he has said nicconi is the best sprinter he has trained. i actually like tickets, he has been aimed at this since after the guineas when arnold told moody to put him up the straight because he will exlode and explode he did but arnold's too confident ride cost him the race that day.....i will back them both heavily in this.

Boy you could pick four here and still not get the winner, so having said that my selections are, Starspangledbanner on top from gate 9, hoping the winners will be coming down the middle and some nice sprinters have won this race over the years. Light Fantastic for 2nd, goes okay at Flemington.Nicconi for 3rd, forget last start was amiss and Wanted for 4th, half a length 4th to Starspangledbanner last start and his form prior is outstanding, at 18 to 1 is well overs. The dangers Turffontein if its dead or worse and Eagle Falls, who's stats tick all the boxes.

I'm not really sure about AS in this.........best sprinter over 1200m at Flem on his day.............but got a strange feeling tomorrow isn't going to be his day.......want to see how he's come back after his trip os.
Gonna have Light Fantastic e/w here........love the way MP has prepared him for this and meets SA 2kg better at the weights for being beaten a head in the Gilgai.......

Geez......didn't realise you follow my posts so avidly Sinestro......Lol!!

Had a couple of niggling doubts since that post.........think he's the best horse here, and will probably win with a leg in the air...........but, can't shake those doubts and when I don't listen to them I usually suffer financially..........that's why I've decided to go for the value runner as I see it, and back LF e/w......just in case I'm wrong...........

Speaking of Cannonball chilli, dont be surprised to see this bloke do something. He was running on powerfully behind Nicconi and now he is with Gai, new training style, new horse, a G1 win???

MoneyTalks

 wrote Mar 5 2010 at 10:44am2010-03-05 10:44:21

Tough tough race!! ALL SILENT just must be respected for what he can do. STARSPANGLEDBANNER is still well weighted & makes his own luck. You cant include him & not EAGLE FALLS so he goes in as well. No doubt WANTED is extremely honest but I thought TICKETS was huge last start - should've beaten HEADWAY, KING PULSE & SHELLSCRAPE in the Coolmore this track/trip.

Sinestro

 wrote Mar 5 2010 at 11:24am2010-03-05 11:24:59

We must have different definitions of 'powerfully' TheNudge. Look at the sectional times from that race. Cannonball ran 9th, and ran the 7th slowest 600m sectional in a field of 11. It may have looked good to the eye with Seeking Attention & Burdekin Blues going backwards at a rate of knots over the last 200m, not to mention Honest Truth & Governance going backwards even faster.

I hava a feeling they never come back from honkers the same as when they left no matter how good they look. All silent if he repeats the patinak run it wins but wet track is negative ,i think it took apache a couple of preps to get back to the top

I tipped ARINOS last start and have no reason not to tip him again. Gut busting run last start at good odds in the OAKLEIGH PLATE and loves FLEMINGTON could put in another gut buster at excellent odds again. PLACE VALUE EXCELLENT

For mine, Shellscrape is on top. Group 1 jockey, outside barrier, toungue tie on 1st time. Been on Wanted each run this prep, no reason to stop now. Gran Sasso loves the straight, has run well past couple in what i deemed to be unsuitable races for him. If this trifecta gets up it'll pay heaps. Hope anybody here gets the tri, or first four, as it will be a monster! Interesting to read how many people are on Tickets....I have no time for Benbow as a Group 1 jockey, but then I remember Sky Cuddle...wet track, Moody....De Ja Vu perhaps? Good Luck!

I'll be taking about 10 in this leg of the quaddie.....super tough race and really highlights the depth of our sprinters. Can't go past All Silent as I have a high opinion of him. He's the right price and flies here. Dangers are Headway, who's been very good at both runs this prep. Hit the front last start only to get bogged down back on the inside, which was clearly not the place to be. She's got the postage stamp weight and is drawn well in 6 and will mlook the winner at some stage. Light Fantastic, who's drawn to get the gun run will be in it for a long way also. Then you have Wanted, Eagle Falls, Trusting...geez this is tough

chilli

Molanski13

 wrote Mar 8 2010 at 2:56am2010-03-08 02:56:49

Money, have to completely disagree. Wanted was the run of the race EASILY. Was way too good for them on this day. Weird race to watch the replay of, basically nothing makes any ground, if anything Wanted is going away from them. Ended up backing Arinos and having Wanted, Light Fantastic and Arinos into the Guineas and the Aus Cup as I just could not have All Silent because he needs the track hard. Sinestro I know All Silent ran the third quickest 600 but what does that mean? Pretty easy to finish off quick when you've done nothing and have no hope of winning I would suggest?

What did people think of Gran Sasso? Seemed very popular on here and I couldn't really work out why?

Sinestro

 wrote Mar 8 2010 at 3:29am2010-03-08 03:29:17

I think you summed it up yourself, Molanski: "Basically nothing makes up any ground". I think you'll find his run was ok and certainly better than it looked. But of course, that is always in the eye of the beholder.

some trainers are better that others in this regard.......Moody and Price are worth listening to and Gai, well, some of her comments are comical. Kavanagh and Hayes you can sort of guage their confidence in their voice. Geez I'm starting to sound like a psycholigist !! I'm happy with Wanted winning as I have purchased a share in a Fastnet Rock colt so Wanted's Group 1 win can only add to the value of him. He's with G Eurell so fingers crossed he can get him going to win a race or 3

Agreed TT, just couldn't see how he could possibly win this race even if he was flying but I can understand people getting sucked in having heard whispers, happens to all of us.
