Very cautious about Lamasery because he is the only horse that has a sharp turn of speed. If it becomes a crawling tempo, which it should be, then horses like Mourayan and Manighar will struggle. Americain should win, but Lamasery looks the good overs

They won't beat him in Honkers on that run. I have found two value runners in the next at Rosehill- Mentality and Kimberley Kid. Mentality because this is the easiest race he has contested since his first trial as a two year old. If he ever he was going to win another one, this is it. He'll roll forward and give a sight. Kimberley Kid was good in a leader dominated race first up. He flies second up, lovely weight pull on most of his rivals and Chad Schofield is the in form rider in Sydney at the moment.

absolute moral in the last at ascot...THE TENBY FRIAR any one who needs to get out this horse is a moral..Form is ten times better than anything in the race via lucky grey and westriver kevydon..Got barrier 4 and the jocks in form ...$1.85 on sportingbet is an absolute gift it should win by 5 lengths ....If your looking for a roughie to banker it in with first fours put in volcanic causaway great place chance from barrier 1 up to 1600m.....

Arma make sure you throw Villiers in your Quaddie and Tri's etc is definitely the best horse in the race but might not be suited today with the lack of speed and will probably be quite far back coming for home. Watch the betting although the new trainer isn't recogonised for her betting prowess.

Who decided to put the kid on? When a 3kg kid loses control of a horse or misjudges a ride we shouldn't be surprised. Rather than give her 6 weeks out, make her ride in the bush for 3- 6 months until she can judge her rides and hold the horses. At least if this happens again it will be lower profile and not hammer as many punters and not ruin a $70k Saturday metro race. She isn't in a hurry to ride in town, time is on her side. Probably doesn't deserve the label she gets from this.
I don't think she was cheating and it's not really her fault the horse bolted but it is her job and responsibility to control it. I know senior jocks lose control too but at least they are senior jocks - they've been around and proven they can ride. This kid is surely still on a massive learning curve.

Warnambool race 1. Have Xiphos on top at around the $2.50 mark so the $1.60 showing on the tote is way unders for my liking. Out of the rest I have 1,3,6 as the main contenders and they are all overs due to Xiphos being so short. Suggested bet for me is to stand out the 4 from 3,6 in an exacta for a bit of value in this small field.
Gosford race 1. A bit of money around for the first starter Rushing To Win who won a recent trial by over 5 lengths that's probably the best guide for this. Out of the rest I have 4,2,3,1 as the next best. Probably go with another exacta and stand out the 9 from 2 and 4.

Warnambool race 2. Think the market has this pretty close although I have the 5 Poppy'S Pond at overs at $3.50 on the tote, I have it around $2.30. My ratings have this between the two in the money Oklahoma Thunder and Poppy'S Pond out off the rest Plus Value for 3rd and Kentucky Reign for 4th.

surely marsh will be back in over kawaja, who did NOTHING this entire test. and the obvious one being watson back in over hughes. Haddin also needs to sort himself out with the bat i think, not convincing
Kawaja has to stay IMO...has obvious talent and class.. 1st drop i9s too big an ask for him tho at this stage... Hughesy Out, Ponting Out. Marsh in, Watson in. watto opens, marsh No. 3, Kawa No. 6.
Khawaja,ponting,Clarke and haddin were terrible shots to get dismissed on especially in that situation were Warner was set and they didn't have to take chances. Hughes is a definitely gone. Ponting will get the tap on the shoulder to bow out on his terms. Hussey haddin and should be dropped. I think khawaja is a long term chance just didn't make that big score from his two starts. You wouldn't feel comfortable for that batting line up making 300 in any situation.

Surely Wingman76 can't sustain those sort of results. I would be careful, at one point he was down 9,000 and then up 30,000 in no time. I have seen it time and time again tipsters like this who get quick profits and then lose it just as quickly. Placemaster, Cire to name a few recently. If you are in when they hit the peak be careful.

here is my most ridiculous tip of the year... Stakhanovite in the next in Ade. its had 2 wins from a million starts but seems to be on the improve somehow. Just a small nibble each way is enough. Pretty ordinary race so an ordinary horse will win..dont come much more ordinary than this one!

Fella's next weeks 2yr old Magic Millions - Two horses ran outstanding figures and sectionals last week in DRIEFONTEIN & SIZZLING and I cannot see how anything else can win the race. Personally I pay very little attention to weight, my aproach is built around pace and speed. I feel that weight is overrated as a variable, both in its impact on the outcome of a race and equally important, in its impact on the market.
The market is still largely reflective of weight assessment methods and while there is no doubt that weight has some affect, the market bias towards those approaches means it holds little consistent winning advantage.
There are also plenty of other factors that influence the outcome of a race, many of them not obvious in your typical formguide, I prefer to concentrate on them.
Head to head comparisons are important (to a point) and it's something I use as a minor part of my analysis. Fortunately the software that I run not only holds my speed and pace information for all form around Australia, but enables me to immediately click and see when and where all horses have met in the past, their fitness leading into the run, their price, the result and their changes to this race in terms of barrier, weight and jockey. It's a very handy tool but head to head comparisons need to be done in the context of the conditions of the past race and the upcoming race. For example, things like pace, trips, distance and fitness.
I'll divert off the track a little now, but hopefully it's of interest......
Providing it's sound, the analysis approach isn't so important...what's important is the analysis of the market, decision making and finding the right situations where the market hasn't reflected an important factor that will influence the outcome of a race.
I would say that most punters spend 98% of their time analysing the race itself to work out who they think will win and only 2% of the time analysiing the market, what it says about the chances, why, and whether there are genuine value opportunities to profit. I am totally open minded and focus on finding profitable opportunities irrespective of distance, class, track condition which many the punters have preconveived ideas and rules about.

As a consequence they are locked into the races they can bet on without even knowing if the opportunities are profitable. They also miss many opportunties for value. A good example of this on Saturday was a lowly Gold Coast maiden...a race most wouldn't even think to look at on a Satuday with four Metropolitan meetings. The favourite was a horse called Spagcam but he was around $4 in the market. I looked at the next two in the race Zamaala Rose and Deep Touch who were hovering around $4.50-$6.00 in the market. On both form and speed figures neither of these horses came close to Spagcam, yet the market assessed their chances as not too far behind. This to me was a profitable window of opportunity and reason to have a good bet. Looking at the market and the chances around him I estimated Spagcam was really a $3 chance and backed him accordingly, securing $4.28...an excellent overlay.

In my experience, winning requires a different paradigm to how the majority approach punting. The textbook says you should study the form before hand work out your bets will in advance and be disciplined by sticking to that with a sensible money management plan. I say that you don't necessarily have to do that. The market is very efficient at calculating the winning chances, so don't fight it, use it to your advanatage. You don't need to worry about working everything out before hand, develop the art of identifying the clues for when the market may not be so efficient and hunt down every race where that might be the case and then bet. If your judgement is sound you will only be betting in situations of good to great value and you only need to be right a few times to finish in front over the long term.

Re Tippoff, I'm not sure there was anything dodgy going on there. The horse was last all the way, probably 12L off the leaders, and it simply looked to me like he was expecting to go through the gap in front of him, but it closed a bit. Then he seemed to hesitate to see if it would open again, and then at about the 200 he realised it wasn't happening, so pulled to the outside, ran home strongly for 2nd. Was never going to win, but could have finished a bit closer.

He added a short distance later he had to again steady Tipoff when Clan McClymont shifted out under pressure slightly, and he elected to come back and to the outside of Akihito to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race. S. Thurlow agreed with the stewards that in hindsight he would have been better served coming to the outside of Akihito near the 300m."

Yeah maybe your right Nudge but the horse was reefing for more reign up until then and wouldn't settle. Prob should of still tryed to conserve the horses energy until the 500m or so.

Kembla Grange race 5: Bugaboo. I've been waiting for this one to come back on the scene since August after a very impressive debut in a BM80 at Randwick. Missed the start by 5 lengths, ended up coming 4th. Should be a class above its rivals today.
Kembla R1 - I'll be working around the favourite Princess Qualo under the odds at present and is better suited over 1100m-1200m. Two that stand out to me are Country Hustle who has the best recent dist speed figures and Shanty who if can replicate it's first up figures over 1000m two preps ago will be very hard to beat. Didn't appear to come up last prep but was trainer found it had an injury, has trialled ok. Betting should paint the picture especially being in the betting stable of Rick Worthington.

Ok I love this horse Watertight. Jumps like an elephant eveytime and gets way back but can absolutely fly down the outside. Has enough class about it to win this. But could just as easily go out the back and get walled up. This is his distance though (or 2100m) cos it leaves him enough time to post his excellent last sectionals and get close to the frontrunners.

The track at Flemington was rated a Dead 4 on the inside and a Dead 5 on the outside. They aerated the track so the inside is clearly the better going yet they came down the middle and therefore the swoopers had to track into the inferior ground?

Don't waste your money backing anything else in the MM2yr olds race apart from the two favs Driefontein and Sizzling. Only two hopes, couldn't be keener that nothing will beat these two, standout speed figures and sectionals from the Mclachlan last start that rate way above the rest of the field

didn't have to be up held, winner came from well behind and definitley had the measure! Thought they had to prove second would've won?
Plugga has gone from bake beans on toast to Lobster in 15 mins. gets up a big lay and confident winner all in won race. Well done

I am sticking with Aquatorial in GC Race 6 . Been unlucky last few runs, and although its drawn the carpark, at least it won't get caught up on the fence, haha. Tough race, wouldn't be surprised whatever gets up. The 40-1 about Aquatorial is prbaly about its right price, but hey, stranger things have happened!
