More Joyous the horse they all have to beat, but $19 for Rothesay is very enticing! I see he's nominated for the Theo Marks this weekend. Does anyone know if The Epsom is their preferred path for the Spring? Looks massive overs, but I don't want to outlay if it's unlikely...

Very unlikely starter mate. He will go to Melbourne for the Toorak/Cox Plate/Emirates then a possible trip to Perth.

Thanks Nudgey, I noticed last night they had it listed as doubtful on TAB fixed. None of the other sharks do!

Apart from the obvious ones, I think Captain Sonador looks ok value for a few small futures doubles

Hey Nudge, looks like a change of plans on Rothesay. With More Joyous now likely to avoid the Epsom, Rothesay looks like running in it 2nd up. All of a sudden my 253-1 for the Rothesay/Purple double is looking much better! =)

If the horse is the 'next Sunline' Gai she would want to be winning the Epsom even with 57kg! After all Sunline won 2 Doncaster's amongst her 13 G1's so you would want to be winning a major G1 handicap to make that claim. It's only 0.5kg over WFA. Soft option if she misses the race just because she is topweight.

Yes mate, just read that a moment ago. He'll be very hard to beat now with all the major players bowing out. How much will the weights increase by?

Is LEICA LARRIKIN any chance of running?

Horsemiller12

 wrote Sep 15 2010 at 11:36pm2010-09-15 23:36:35

From memory, Sunline ran 4th in the Epsom as a 4yo carrying 56.5kg, then came to Melbourne and won the Cox Plate. Not exactly sure Nudge, but it looks like weights might be raised 2 kgs with the top weights unlikely starters.

I think the minimum top weight is 57kg so weights will be increased by as much as needed.

I have double neeson $19 in the epsom into purple $21 in metro for $30 to win $11970. I hope more joyous is def not running it will seem like huge overs.

Half your luck with those doubles you guys have, I guess ill just be sitting back watching on thinking what might have been while tearing up my ticket of More Joyous into Purple @ $126

Jeez Ms Waterhouse is a pain in the arse - she is my bogy trainer to say the least. She declared a few weeks ago that More Joyous was a moral for the Epsom - odds have been coming in ever since and then she decides to not run the horse. She is playing with our money and should keep her mouth shut some times.

Presuming that the champ MJ doesn't run, Captain Sonador will win. 1 length behind shoot out with no luck, and has come back flying. Currently at 21s with TAB.

More Joyous, who is still in the mix for the Epsom Handicap despite probably having to carry topweight, won the Tea Rose last year.

"She's still in the Epsom," Singleton's racing manager Duncan Grimley said.

"We're just not sure what we do before the Cox Plate."

And just watched racing retro and less than 12hours after that again they have changed their minds and she is definitely not going to the epsom. How can you believe anything anyone says in this game? Worse than polititions...

Anyone know why captain sonador was scratched yesterday?

Comon chilli that is silly thing to say. Anything can happen in this game. She has come back enormous this prep. Has been ultra impressive in her first two runs. The favourite is going to be so hard to beat but if she stays fit anything can happen. What happens if SYT goes amiss?

chilli

wont matter she cant win over 2040m at the Valley mate... cant see it at all...

centennial park for the epsom, legit light weight chance!

Horsemiller12

 wrote Sep 21 2010 at 12:53pm2010-09-21 12:53:11

Chilli, she's a freak. If something goes wrong with SYT, I'll be a very excited man! $250 win at $41. She's bred to go further than the 2040 mate, so no reason to say she's not right in it. I know the valley is a tricky track for a Syd horse, but she's an on speed mare, well weighted as a 4yo with 55.5kgs. Never say can't, it's a naughty word!

ok let me rephrase- i sincerely doubt she can beat the boys in the COX over 2040m... i wouldnt be backing her. WBGTY would make mince meat of her... in saying that she is a superstar but 2040m is a bit too far in my humble opinion...

I agree with CHILLI. she is blitzing a moderate bunch here in sydney atm. It is a huge step up in grade and she wont be carrying any of mine. she will run in the toorak and id say she will run a race and go close to winning it.
i am heading to the races this weekend and THESEO will be carrying my hard earned

I backed firebolt last start and was very impressed with its finish, struck me as the only horse who can take off with more joyous when it goes. Don't know if it can beat it but I will have those two in the quinella.

great run from TRUSTING on the w/end has me leaning that way here... actually, does anyone know if he is running in the Epsom? looks like he is nominated for the Turnbull as well? He's 3rd fave in the Epsom, they're snakes if he's not running!

If Drumbeats backs up and draws well it'll be incredibly hard to beat

Trusting most likely to run in the Epsom than Turnbull, Runny. Very nice run by him on the weekend.

Looks like Danleigh is going to back up in the Epsom. Would love to see him strike a firmish surface on Saturday. I don't think he relishes a shifting surface like last weekend was eventhough he has won in the wet previously.

Lol, too busy shamelessly plugging his dads restaurant. Did 'Loyld' Williams say anything about the Cheesy tortellini? Sooooooo cheesy.

demonick68

 wrote Sep 28 2010 at 9:10am2010-09-28 09:10:07

Nothing about the stinky cheese but he did mention this morning (on tv) that he wished he owned holberg. This horse keeps popping up as a 53kg chance for the MC and Frankie has sworn to stay clear of any cheesiness....can we do the same? HMMMMM Cheeeese

xxvicelifexx

 wrote Sep 28 2010 at 9:14am2010-09-28 09:14:20

LOL! Maybe he meant Jarlsberg, not Holberg?

I spoke to Holberg in one of my dad's 38 restaurants today. I got out of my Ferrari and heard Holberg say he didnt want to be owned by some cheesy 'Loyld' fella that doesnt even know what races certain horses are nominated in. Then I got in my Mercedes and headed off to my northern beaches mansion.

Not sure who's running, but Snapy Halo, Rothesay, Firebolt & Neeson look like excellent chances to me. Is Theseo going to run? He's a big chance if he does.

demonick68

 wrote Sep 28 2010 at 1:11pm2010-09-28 13:11:19

Is Jarlsberg the cheese with holes in it? Because all of the sudden there is a hole where a post used to be. But in all seriousness (perhaps a stilton) watch firebolts run two weeks ago. 3 wide and destroyed them. I know neeson got caught up in running but I still don't think it would have caught the fire once it bolted.

Mikka84

 wrote Sep 29 2010 at 12:22am2010-09-29 00:22:37

It honestly looks to be a 3 horse race for mine. If Bolt can reproduce his last race, he wins. James has said all along he is targeting the Epsom with low weights. Hence he only gave Bolt 4 starts up north. 1 of which should have been a non-runner. The track will be dry with no rain on the forecast. Which is going to help Oww. It would have been nice to see Neeson get clear against Bolt and see what he could have done, but as demon said, doubt he could have caught him.

Theseo being spelled for the spring, which makes things interesting. Both here, and cox plate speed patterns.
