The guy is a magician and the most under rated jockey in the land!
I'm still trying to figure out how some of you think he is as good as any going around... he is a good bush jockey lol
Mate that comment is almost as bad as ragging on BC! Just an all round legendary bloke (from what i gather from his tvn interviews!) Plus, he gives most of his mounts a good chance, and thats a lot more than you can say for some of the others out there
I'm not saying he's a bad person... but he is not a top class city jockey.
The proof to strengthen my argument is that he doesnt get many rides come carnival time

Yea i hear what you're saying, but there's a lot more that goes into getting carnival rides. Its a competitive marketplace, especially when he's riding for weir who doesn't have a strong hand come carnival time. The other stable jocks get their mounts and the freelance ones obviously rely on their agents to barter the rides. Which possibly leaves him in a pretty tough place. But given his chance he does make the most of it. I often hear the experts say he deserves more rides in the big time. He's done pretty well with Niwot! Won a group 3 and 8th in the cup!
He will continue on Chase The Rainbow too... He rode more winners than any other jock in the land last year and had bags of 5 and 6.. Not bad going.
I understand that some jockeys dont get a huge go carnival time... im a big fan of melham and he doesn't get as much luck as a Nolen (Moody) or a Williams (best free lancer)
But all these top jockeys getting rides in the carnival earnt their chances in the first place by riding great. The last bet I had where Yendall rode it in a city race was on Stirling Grove at Caulfield and it just wasn't a top class ride
He rode Niwot good in the carnival yes but it still doesn't change my view on him as being a 'top class' jockey

Yendell is just as good as melham if not better. Cant judge him off one ride. You always hear about jockeys saying it's impossible to get a start in Melbourne. When Williams and Hayes parted he couldn't get a ride anywhere, think he dven rode in hong kong for a while and know his arguably the best jockey in Melbourne ATM. I think peter robl (bar the betting incident) is another underrated jockey
I agree you can't judge someone off one ride, that was just my most recent and last chance for him in the big time. But there is no point me trying to argue my point, everyone has their opinions and when you say Yendall is just as good as Melham I know to stop right there
Big fan of Melham and Yendall... I'll throw Jamie Mott in too...He should be one of the best! Weight an issue but he is a top rider.
yes i forgot about Mott he's one of my top ones
How many championships has yendell won? How good has his strike rate been? How has he had the most wins in the city and the country? Im basing that statement on numbers, its not a subjective opinion alminderby. I'm not just saying it becuase thats my personal opinion i'm going of evidence
He was going a lot better last year than this year
He has the most wins in the city? i don't believe that
Yendall most wins in city? where are some of you pulling these stats from? get some facts FFS...

I went to that website and checked all the stats
I then had a laugh at how irrelevant madmax60's post is to my argument saying that he is a bush jockey

Debate it all you like, just don't back him at Sandown Hillside.
sorry not straight out city wins. I was reffering to the most city wins and pronvincial wins. Meant a combined total, not just most wins in the city and most wins in the country. My bad. I havent even checked the site out but from memory the he won the championship newitt won last year?
not too sure about last year, but newitt is in front for this year
