Up until early August I used to shy away from even looking at Maiden races due to the impossibility of lining up any sort of form to make an educated evaluation / guess at the likely winner.
A mate suggested that rather than ignore them completely, that I only apply myself to races where EVERY horse has had at least two starts to compensate for the fact that they are all non-winners. Another mate has said for years " Cracka - one of them has to win".
I've taken the advice of the first mentioned mate rather than the proverbial "stab in the dark".
Results have been interesting to say the least. Since 9th August this year the Maiden races that I've been able to apply myself to (approximately 160 races) have produced a 5% profit on the place outlay, but overall lost on the win outlay. There's an admission you won't hear everyday.
Looking deeper into the figures I've found that the Saturday Maidens have returned a winning profit of 33% and place profit of 18% from 34 races with 12 wins and 11 places.........
The Maidens that I would have otherwise called STANDOUTS (apart from not having won a race yet) on the blurb associated with daily tips have produced 7 winners and 3 placegetters from 13 selections at a profit of 59% win, 38% place and 49% ew. Too small a sample to hang my hat on, but promising all the same.
Shall be naming the run of the mill maidens that will likely place on this thread as often as I can & advising that there is a STANDOUT MAIDEN tipped without naming it, but giving the track and race number, before the days races and reviewing the results as soon as possible to keep a running tally.

Murray Bridge selection scratched and field reduced to seven, so not replacing it. Would have been Kerford (#3) for anyone interested.
Haha - cost myself with Kerford running 2nd in 7 horse field. The standout maiden ran 3rd @ $1.60.
Mind you track upgraded from slow to good. Would be nice to get an accurate assessment the night before somewhere.
Stand at 210w / 1004p profit currently.

Standout maiden in the first at Ipswich as tipped (100ew) plus placeworthy maidens at Mornington r4n9 & Murwillumbah r2n1.
Messed up by not putting in Penola r1n7 as placeworthy for Thursday which of course won at $2.60 / $1.50.

Monday maiden Gunnedah r4n8 100p.
Sat and Sunday results to follow as per my tips comments for those days.
May have found something useful to turn the win profit around. More later when properly checked out.

Having it's namesake right now. Was Cranny r2n15 as a winner.

Maidens worth a place bet at Doomben race 1n1 & r2n7, Gawler r1n3 and r4n7 on Wednesday
Todays selection mentioned in comments section was a late selection. Replacement - n14 Rock D'or
Moonee Valley r2n6, Narrogin r4n7 & Ipswich r2n5 all worth a look / place bet today.
Forget Ippy r2 as field less than 8 runners due to scratchings.
Tomorrows maidens as tipped with Gold Coast r5 a standout selection. Others are in at Toowoomba r7 and Newcastle r3.
Due to Tasmanian intervention ...............................Nothing more to say so thread has ended Apparently Victorian Pr!cks like me not welcome.
