There's a race meeting at Bong Bong tomorrow. Anyone know anything about the track?
Paul the Octopus has been appointed the Chief Steward on the day.
STONER will be running. Has good Bong Bong form. Likely to be favourite.
I wont be backing him. His performances seem a bit 'half baked' sometimes.
Forget anything with STRAIGHT track form - Bong Bong track is completely bent with no straight and the grass and weeds go uncut for any jockey coming down to have a soft landing.
Is TRIPPY having it's final lead up to Bong Bong today?
I suspect so. It is expected to be a bit jumpy going into the stalls today before mellowing out for the run home.
Hahahahaha straight track form that's hilarious! Love it
A bit of Bong Bong history. Not sure if the first winner had mafia connections or not.......gotta love the description of the old track and flying jockeys though.
The Bong Bong Picnic Race Club was formed in 1886. The first Bong Bong Cup was held in the grounds of Throsby Park and was won by Don Antonio.
In years past the meeting was held on Caulfield Cup Saturday and often attracted a greater attendance than the corresponding Sydney metropolitan meeting. It is interesting to note that the winner of the 1920 Bong Bong Cup, Purser, four years later went on to win the Caulfield Cup.
Wyeera (Bong Bong) has developed into a fine facility over the years. Long gone are the days of 2 x 2 posts in lieu of proper running rails, ashes from a local brick works to fill some of the swampy parts and strand starting barriers. Gone too is the notorious "drop" just past the winning post where unsuspecting jockeys sometimes became airborne. These days the course is a professional looking track but one which still holds its picnic race atmosphere and charm with the famous hill in the centre of the course the source of many tales about what can happen out of sight of the stewards.

Thanks for the history lesson on Bong Bong. It like most racing areas has a great history particular interested in the bit about `Purser`. I love racing history and especially racing trivia as many of you may know.
Fancy a Caulfield Cup winner coming through the Bong Bong Cup, eh?
Better keep a close eye on this years form!

This year sees an unprecedented three horses inducted into the Bong Bong Hall of Fame. Connections of High Rollin' Woman , Some Are Bent and Better Loosen Up were delighted to receive the news.Meanwhile the owners of Black And Bent are considering taking legal action, declaring their horse was excluded from the list unfairly, because his race did not meet the quailifications.
Committee members are expected to sit down with the owners and have a long session, to try and resolve the issues.

In other news, the inaugural Pacing Cup has been abandoned, after closing nominations, because of the low number of final acceptors. It is believed Smokem Up scared off many of his rivals.
