All Blacks Win ... Finally, Relief, PeaceAll Blacks Win ... Finally, Relief, Peace
So many words spring to mind with respect to our winning the World Cup last night. But, truthfully the overrding words are "finally" and "relief" and finally we can have a little "peace". So, now we can move on and enjoy our rugby over the next 4 years ... until the next World Cup comes along and we have to start all over again. Congrarulations to Henry, Hanson, Smith, McCaw and the team and other support people! well deserved and I am pleased for them. I was not a fan of Stephen Donald - but he handled himself so well last night and in my mind he added some stability to the team at the end of the game, and he is now forever in my good books. Magnificent contribution Stepehen Donald!! Felt for Carter - but he put on a brave face.
I thought the All Blacks performance was poor, still got the job done though. France performed way beyond my expectations. I don't know if the chokers tag should be removed after that game, even though they won, they still buckled under pressure.
To be fair, they were very lucky to win that match. France were by far the better team in the second half but they just couldn't convert it into points. If I was on the board of the NZ Rugby Union, I'd be looking for someone to replace Graham Henry
Hahaha - exactly what I said to my friend last night ... they will still be calling us chokers. Nevertheless France put in a great effort and have always been our nemesis team. I will take the win gladly but also for about 18 of the last 24 years we have been the best rugby team in the world - so there is an element of justification there as well. Look at Aussies recoerd against us the last 4 years - dismal Aussie.
BTW on the Graham Henry comment - surely you are kidding Nudge? He is the best rugby coach in the world - one of the greats.
NZL deserved to win if you look at the competition as a whole and congratulations that they did. The issue they have is the high pressure games and poor decision making.
Enjoyable game. Almost felt as if France deserved the win, but good to see NZ nab it at home.
